Kind Of Woman Lyrics
From The Album "Bella Donna" (1981)
Temptation falls in your path
No hesitation why you ask
You have another waiting at home
And yes she matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
You didn't mean to meet her you cry
Oh but the sun goes down every night
She came to you when you were alone
And yes she matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
I promised myself...a long time ago
It would be difficult to let you go
If not at least within
The touch of my fingers-
It was close to being
In heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
To being in heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Is to be...in heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
I know I know
No hesitation why you ask
You have another waiting at home
And yes she matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
Oh but the sun goes down every night
She came to you when you were alone
And yes she matters to you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
She matters to you
It would be difficult to let you go
If not at least within
The touch of my fingers-
It was close to being
In heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
To being in heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you
Is to be...in heaven
Kind of woman that'll haunt you

I'm a little hazy on this but, I believe Stevie wrote it in Colorado (the same time she wrote Landslide) when Lindsey was gone, on the road with The Everly Brothers. The "kind of woman that will haunt you" is her. The song suggests Lindsey may have strayed while on the tour, I don't recall Stevie ever stating this directly in any interviews though.
This seems like a pretty sympathetic song about infidelity. Although I think the narrator is a little jealous of women who have the potential to haunt people.
This song is so beautiful. Great melody, great lyrics, all perfect. I see it as the narrator who tells a lover that she will forever haunt his ex, coz he won't forget their intense passion. No matter what happened or the one he calls his girl now. Stevie is brilliant!
*haunt her ex I mean...
It's kinda giving Catherine and Heathcliff IMO.
