The Twilight Zone Lyrics

A pleasant faced man steps up to greet you
He smiles and says he's pleased to meet you
Beneath his hat the strangeness lies
Take it off, he's got three eyes
Truth is false and logic lost
Now the fourth dimension is crossed...

You have entered the Twilight Zone
Beyond this world strange things are known
Use the key, unlock the door
See what your fate might have in store...
Come explore your dreams' creation
Enter this world of imagination...

You wake up lost in an empty town
Wondering why no one else is around
Look up to see a giant boy
You've just become his brand new toy
No escape, no place to hide
Here where Time and Space collide

You have entered the Twilight Zone
Beyond this world strange things are known
Use the key, unlock the door
See what your fate might have in store...
Come explore your dreams' creation
Enter this world of imagination...

I love how in the second verse they have a whispered harmony behind the sung lyrics. It makes it sound a lot creepier.

I love that!

This is a nice unique song for me since the lyrics are references to the actual show The Twilight Zone episodes. I love the show and Rush so it's nice to have this gem.

To be more specific here are the references:

"A pleasant faced man steps up to greet you He smiles and says he's pleased to meet you Beneath his hat the strangeness lies Take it off, he's got three eyes"

Is about the episode "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?".

"You wake up lost in an empty town Wondering why no one else is around"

Is about the episode "Where Is Everybody?".

"Now the fourth dimension is crossed... You have entered the Twilight Zone Beyond this world strange things are known"

Is (to what I believe) is about the episode "Little Girl Lost". Or it could just be about the show in general.

This had to be written after one of those late night FX Twilight Zone TV show marathons... He specifically mentions two episodes in the song. Another great song that makes 2112 still one of my Rush fave's.

it's based on two different episodes. i don't know the second ne it talks about is, but the first one is about the pilot episode titled "will the real alien please stand up" i think.

This song would be better if it didn't have a chorus (like all prog songs that have choruses - most other songs simply have no hope, chorus or not).

this is almost as A Passage to Bangkok is to weed as this is to lsd. it is pretty obvious but one of my faves alltogether

give yourself an opportunity to explore mysteries in you're life... the unconscious mind contains our would be "thoughts"... hidden treasures in my opinion of very profound creative abilities... after taking lsd it is very possible to creatively believe what you're doing.
