Q&A

What If? Lyrics

she puts her finger on her lips. noone will ever know.
she takes my hand and leads me in undecided where to go.

secret shadows hide her face. her eyes say everything.
we were never here. can't forget we really were.

now we're getting somewhere and i'm going nowhere.

hiding in desire and she belongs to someone else.
should i stay here or leave and live with myself?
i want to do that to her but i can't do that to him.
try not to let me in.

the tears she cries they just spill out
how he keeps pushing her away.
she's drowning fast, i pull her in, but is this the only way?

step back but don't want to run. she's closer to me now.
i tremble slightly breath to skin. i should be going now.

does he really know that she's letting go?

hiding in desire and she belongs to someone else.
should i stay here or leave and live with myself?
i want to do that to her but i can't do that to him.
try not to let me in.

she smiles across and empty room. says it'll be alright.
i watch her everything unfold then she turns off the lights.
i silently drift forward but cannot clear my head.
i feel her reaching for my soul and pulling me into bed.
before she slides across me i breathe and close my eyes.
he may never know this moment but i'll always know i lied.

Cover art for What If? lyrics by Lacy Underal

I love hearing this song! It's so soft, yet so full of anxiety and confusion. He obviously really wants this girl, but she is dating another guy (who sounds like he doesn't give her much attention). The guy knows it's wrong to mess around with her, but then he thinks if no one knows, it won't matter. "Hiding in desire"... great line! These guys are great... some of them even graduated from my school.
