3 Inch Horses, Two Faced Monsters Lyrics
Brock also doesn't like to be interviewed because everyone asks him what the songs are about. He said they mean different things to different people, so even if what you said, studson, was the truth, let pttc have their version. Personally, I've always agreed that this song was about arrogant, hypocritical people and I thought that the "big show" was just referring to life in general. It's not a big conclusion, but it seems to fit with many of the other tracks and MM likes to tie songs and albums together. (A perfect example is the whole "You'll never die and you'll never grow old" line which is used on a few songs.) Anyway, Go Modest Mouse, woo!
"I don't know but I been told you never die and you never grow old."
This line from 3 Inch Horsemen is also sampled at the end of A Different City (the downloaded version I have anyway).
if you knew what every song was written about, you'de lose all gratitude for it. let the song mean what you want it to...music is your own, i hate tearing apart good lyrics it wrecks it!!
Ok I think I figured it out by interpreting the lyrics in this setting: Isaac going to church. Get that picture in your head and re-read the lyrics it makes sense. "It's the big show" is the church service
talking about arrogant people i think
I really love this son, I love the cowboy, country-western vibe and the solo-round. I think Isaac is saying don't be clever, not the guy he's talking about, it makes more sense. And I think arrogance is right.
what has been said before seems like it makes sense, but i dont get the last little part from "its the big show..." on, anyone got any ideas?
reminds me of "Tiny curtains open and we heard the tiny clap of little hands. A tiny man would tell a little joke and get a tiny laugh from all the folks" but i think it means like when you're with someone who doesn't believe anything you say so you just gotta be like yo man while your over here poking holes in my reality yours is passing right by you. maybe thats why they're so focused on yours idkk

not sure what the fuck three inch horses are, but the two faced monsters at the end refers to either people saying one thing and meaning another or being hypocritical and contradicting themselves. two faced means having two sides, often a good side that people meet at first and a bad side that people eventually start to see come out in someone.
"I don't know but I been told you never die and you never grow old."- isnt that line from I Came As A Rat?
they use that line an incredible amount, and its a good line to use a lot as well, i really like it
