Lila Lyrics
this seems to be about the watching a loved one grow away from you... prolly a girl he knew and loved... it is so personal it seems that you would't really understand it unless it happen to you... i guess maybe what i get outa this song the most is in real love, that true love that is real rare in this world... no matter how it hurts, how much you cry wanna die or whatever, you will never leave that bed side... even if the person you love can't see you anymore you just endure the hurt just to be near them and know they are doing fine... and if they ever need anythig you are there, ready to dowhat you can to ear them say your name or just look at you... pft! i got carried away a little personal for me maybe... i think i will change the name to Melissa and play it at the right time and maybe something magical would happen...
i can't believe no one has commented on this yet... i think it's probably one of conor's best songs. so beautiful... "my baby....my baby..."
oh, and i think it's "slip" and not "drift" in the "slip into perfect peaceful sleep" line.
this song breaks my heart. it's so lovely. I love that the quality is utterly shoddy and it's quiet and perfect.
i think this is about a girl he loved and hes proud that he had her and loved her and he wont let the memory of her fade away.
agreed, deliriumtrigger is right about the "slip" line. this is the first song i've heard by bright eyes, and probably my favorite. "something vague" is really high up there.
to me, this song has always been about a girl that he was in love with. something happened between them, and for some reason they weren't together anymore. so he sits by her bed and watches her sleep.. and when morning comes, and she's moved on, he'll still be around remembering how happy they were together.
i've always related to it so much, its scary.. well, only the genders are reversed. i didn't like his voice the first time i heard it, but it has this effect on you that doesn't go away.
FAVORITE PART: "and i will be there standing in your shadow, knowing that you once were mine.. all mine.. my baby.. my baby.."
i agree. the way he says "my baby.. my baby" isss beautiful.
I love this song It's probably my favorite Bright Eyes song ever i just love how simple it is
ive liked birght eyes for quite a while but i have only recently heard this song. i love it, espcially the last bit- and starlightfading- i totally agree with you, its basically the same to me but they guy was the person who introduced me to bright eyes but hes gone, so yeah, great song, really great
I thought it was more of a lullaby written for a child (even tho he has no children). It could have been written for one of his nieces. Then again, I could be painfully wrong. And I probably am.
This song is absolutely beautiful. I cried the first time I heard it.
I think it is a lullaby in a way. I love how it's so simple. It sounds like he did lose some girl but still cares for her. Like it's a lullaby for her. Like even though they're not together he still cares for her a lot and he'll always be there for her, even to just watch her sleep.
I think it's just so beautiful. I have this thing, I don't know what it is, but like seeing someone sleeping to me is like the most beautiful and peaceful thing in the world. Sounds weird I know, but like my boyfriend, I could just watch him sleep forever and that's the most beautiful thing I can imagine. That's probably why I like this song so much :)
Bright Eyes is really good :) Conor sings very well in this song :)
Oh good! I thought i was the only person that cried the first time i heard this song. I eventually sang it to my ex when she was going through a tough time with her current boyfriend and she broke up with him to be with me soon after.
