Plug In Baby Lyrics
The meaning of the song is matt belamy's love for his guitar; how he can revel in something he's good at, sing in expression to the world if he doesn't like someone rather than saying it to their face. it lets him escape the world or 'crucify his enemies'.
that sounds very correct, but one thing is wrong. matt isnt good at guitar, hes fucking amazing! :D

Yeah, omgosh, that's always what I thought, too. He plays his guitar like he's dancing with a woman, too...wow. Damn- how can Muse be so absolute and perfect?? Yeah, I always thought this song was about his guitar, too. <3

In line with what FozzyA said, I think good song-writers/novelists/religionists deliberately preserve a vagueness in their work, so that people come up with their own meanings, and find a way to love the works for themselves. Sorry if that burst anyone's bubble. This site is great, because mostly what you get is a reflection of how people see the world. Art is an expression of feeling, which doesn't try to make a point most of the time. It seems like distinct statements tend to destroy the fascination and mystery there is with feeling. This is why so many artists are lost or suicidal, and not particularly good role models. They are naturally inconclusive. But I love them still, especially Muse.
@wattahay VERY INGENIOUS. I love your comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very rare to find this statement of the truth, so beautifully put. Intelligent!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!! I'm gonna save that. I like too "This is why artists are lost or ... they are naturally inconclusive"... blends right into ur base argument. Very cool.

LOLOL HAAHAHAH WHY THE FK WOULD IT BE ABOUT A VIBRATOR!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHA, you interpreters...
Originally this song had different lyrics and was about virtual reality technology. It was rewritten many times to the version you see here and can be able just about anything, but I still see the virtual technology references. Later Matt admitted that he forgot what it was even about. I read all of this from MuseWiki.org
it's about his penis;
Seems to me it's about his guitar, but the internet porn stuff did make me larf!
You all have filthy minds, please heads out the gutters! This song is obviously about a girl, who gives him some hassle, so he plays his guitar or his 'plug in baby'. He writes songs and plays to escape from the crashing world around him. Why would it be about a bleeding vibrater? I don't think Matt Bellamy is like that!
Drewbarroo xxx
I agree with Drewbarroo about the meaning of Plug In Baby but like someone said before its how you interpret it for yourself.

To me this song is also about a girl and in the first verse he's saying how he's been stabbed in the back although he half expected it as this girl has been messing him around anyway. And now he just wants to forget her love and become reborn.

In the chorus he's saying how his only release is his guitar (Plug-In Baby) when things have turned out for the worst.

The next verse is the same...
The next verse is the same as he feels like this girl has just been playing a game with him and he's wants to replace all the hurt and envy and start a fresh.
Thats how I relate to the song anyways...
I like the interpretations of guitar, dildo etc and find them interesting... my initial impression of this song is that the "plug-in baby" is a baby jesus statue which perhaps lights up or something. I mean he references crucifixion and virginity, two main aspects of the jesus story. Just my knee-jerk interpretation.
This song is about being gay.The first verse is about coming out, the second is about getting rimmed in a kids playground. The chorus is just bullshit. The last section are the clearest lyrics "And I've seen your loving" - looking at a lover's erection, "But mine is gone" - inside his lover's anus, "And I've been in trouble" - a reference to when homosexuality was illegal.
this is possibly my absolute favourite song.
