Anyone who thinks Daryl is a misogynist obviously hasn't experienced the feeling of somebody you truly loved and care about abandon you and fuck other guys. She never visited him the entire time he was in the hospital hemorrhaging (which his stay spanned months) and he could have possibly succumbed to Crohn's during that time. Obviously he's going to be pissed, you would be too. If a fucking woman wrote this album towards a man, nobody would be saying shit.

With that said, for those complaining about Daryl no longer being straight edge, look at it like this: If he didn't break edge, he would not be alive right now. The last year he was edge he looked like absolute death in videos. Since he's started doing weed(which in California he can legally get for his severe medical condition), you see a much improved Daryl, looking younger, having more energy, less tour dates cancelled. Maybe he's been doing other things right too, but you can't deny that since he's broke edge he's been a lot more healthier because of it.
And I say this being straight edge myself. Fuck all of you hardline edge kids that give the belief a bad name.

One of my favorite parts in this album comes in this song at 2:31. Daryl is so frustrated that he did all he could to try to keep this girl and all she could do was "scream at the drain." Implying that she was always drunk and puking in the shower. At 2:31 you know that he wants to call her a name (I would bet nothing nice either) but he holds back "YOU F-- ugh!" because it's just so damn hard him. I know how he feels. Daryl you're the man.
Yeah, what EmoNJE said...Daryl's so frustrated and anger, but he holds himself back...I dont know for sure, but I got a feeling that that happenned in the studio spur of the moment...not a planned out thing.

well i first wanna start off by telling browneyesbleed to f*ck off and stop listening to glassjaw because he obviously has no comprehension of their music if he says that darryl is abit to skinny to be talking shit like that. Ok pretty lush was written by darryl after one of his female friends went away to college and began partaking in some things that werent quit kosher with darryl , ie drinking partying etc, thats where the "you can lead a whore to water and you can bet she'll drink and follow orders" line comes from. Amidst all the bullshit that this girl was doing, she was forgetting about darryl and their friendship, and darryl didnt appreciate being beat out by the bottle, especially since he is sXe, and he especially didnt appreciate being moved past like he was just a phase in this girls life.

This is my second favorite song from GlassJAw. It means a lot to people who are straight edge, like myself.

He talks about his X's tatooed in his lower lip 'Etched in' and the girl hes talkin about sins while she drinks, and he is thinking that she thinks he'd do the same thing, but he wont because Daryl is awesome like that. He has to actually take the drugs and drink the alcohol to get something bad in return.

I think he means that the girl did what she did before he even knew or talked to her since she left. and when he went to this "party", it was shocking.
My 3rd favorite part of the song is the clap, though. That part is fun. Hoorah.

This is the song i live my life by. i'm here at ECU visiting my friend at college. i think i'm the only straight edge in this whole city. all i see are girls stumbling around or hanging on to a guy trying to stand up. and i fucking hate it. this song is true down to every fuckin word and scream. I could not tell you how many times this song runs through my mind a day. i honestly live by it. it shows how disgusting and filthy it is to be a lush. i think every girl should be made to listen to this song. and i love daryl for writing it.
