I just don't care anymore
I've reached the end of the road
I just don't care anymore
Won't cry these tears anymore

Can't find it in the bible
Can't find it on TV
Can't find it in diamonds
There's something inside me that just won't allow me to
Find it in music
Can't find it in my soul
Can't find it in chocolate
Oh babe I can't hide it
I can't even find it in you

There's no way she can kiss you
The way that I do
I heard that you miss me
Oh you should be careful of who you keep talking to
Long nights without you have taught me to be strong
I've cut all my losses
Think no more about it cause I couldn't find it in you

There was a time I thought I'd die
If you should ever leave me high and dry
Now you don't want me any more
It's time to settle the score

I just don't care anymore
I've reached the end of my tether
I've torn all your letters up
I just don't care anymore
Won't cry these tears anymore
I just don't care anymore
I've reached the end of my rope
And it's time that I told you so
I just don't care anymore
Won't cry these tears anymore

I love this song because I always feel that there is something missing that I can never find. But I have the same additude about it, I just don't care anymore. Sirley Mainson has very good lyrics and as far as I'm concerned, no they're not pop.

I think that it's about a breakup like Riko says, but it's her rising above it. She's decided to try looking at it from another angle.

It is a song about a breakup and she is over it. But at the same time, she seems somewhat apathetic about it.

Much underrated track from 2001's beautifulgarbage - ne of my favourites from that record.

Shirley's vocals are sublime (who incidentally got a nosebleed singing the vocal she had to sing so high.

I think its about her trying to pull herself back from a dark and lonely place, not fretting or questioning it it anymore that's it it's all over just time to move on with her life.

    best lines ever...

"oh babe, I can't hide it, I can't even find it (love?) in you"

"I've reached the end of my tether I've torn all your letters up"

"I just don't care anymore, won't cry these tears anymore"

    "let's settle the score"

Relationship was going crap and she couldn't take it anymore... she decides to tell him she couldn't find on him what she's looking for in a man / partner ... so sad. This is Another of their bests... the lyrics are just brilliant as Manson's vocals.

    :')

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Punchline
