i think that this song was written about sevendusts earlier albums which were written between tour dates, they had shitty management and their managers tried to control their music. i think this is a song written about how they finally have freedom and they need to find the creativity and freedom they once had. they did an awesome job. animosity is an awesome album
Lajon Witherspoon dedicated this song to his late brother at a concert in New England (12/3/2002) during a snowstorm. His brother was shot and killed a few weeks earlier.
i dont think the problems with the record company started until about 2 years after Animosity. TVT wanted them to sound like the White Stripes. but i could be wrong

He has been held down by someone..hasn't been able to be himself for a while. He has just gotten this person to stop pushing him down that he finds it hard to be who he used to be. He's trying to find his old self while recovering from the pain. His "free fall" is him going through the thousands of thoughts a second..trying to decide what to do next with his new freedom.
