Monachetti Lyrics
the paddle's broken
the punishment is served in full
the welts are faded
the pain still lingers as it should
the lone receiver
lone reciever
of empty compliments
taken in and bought in full
the lesson's hammered
the message has been reinforced
you said there would not be any reason to fear this world
but you're the reason
you're the reason I feel broken
and branded
and burning with doubt
the welts are faded
the pain still lingers as it should
these things are dealt in increments
constant and laced with detriment
how dare you ever feign surprise
when all those fingers point inside
they're piercing you
you said there would not be any reason to fear this world
but you're the reason
you're the reason I feel broken
branded
burning with doubt
these things are dealt in increments
the punishment is served in full
the welts are faded
the pain still lingers as it should
the lone receiver
lone reciever
of empty compliments
taken in and bought in full
the lesson's hammered
the message has been reinforced
but you're the reason
you're the reason I feel broken
and branded
and burning with doubt
the pain still lingers as it should
constant and laced with detriment
how dare you ever feign surprise
when all those fingers point inside
they're piercing you
but you're the reason
you're the reason I feel broken
branded
burning with doubt

lovely song. makes me cry.
the lyrics of this song can be taken literally and/or metaphorically. to me it has a deep meaning,
"the paddle's broken the punishment is served in full the welts are faded the pain still lingers as it should the lone receiver" when i first read the lyrics to this song i was like whoa, he's talking about someone getting hurt by someone else( to me it was a father vs. daughter, or an abusive family situation because of personal issues i have, it could also be looked at like a relationship gone bad, or something else)
and then going for help to someone close, someone they love, and hearing that what's happening is really nothing "you said there would not be any reason to fear this world" And now the person is really emotionally scarred and confussed because now he/she is thinking that he/she is weird, or that it's their fault, or maybe that what is happening isnt really happening, or maybe that something is wrong with them, a kind of if i was more or less of this then maybe it wouldn't have happened type of thinking, "I feel broken branded burning with doubt"
and the fact that what has happened hasn't stopped "these things are dealt in increments"
i dunno, it's a great song, musically and lyrically. I give major credit to FSF, go them lol

did you know that Monachetti is the last name of a guy they know [knew]? the song isnt written about him, but it is named after him because "a guy who works 20 hours a day, 7 days a week deserves to have a song named after him even if it isnt about him," once said Chris at a show.
this song just seems a little harsh... for it to be emo i mean just sayin
Chris Carabba is the most emotional songwriter ever. Between Dashboard, Vacant Andys, and Further no emotion is left untouched. I can relate with this song, because I know what it's like to have the one person who you placed all your trust in be the very source of your anguish.
i kinda stopped listen to dash for a while.. then started a week or so ago, and now i stopped. becasue i have the fsf cd.
this song is so amazing. xo
its actually child abuse.
I think this song is about anything or anyone who helps makes your like feel worse then it is... and/or someone/thing you fear
This song is so emotional. Chris screams with such emotion that give you a sense of his feelings. I just wish i could scream like that. This is definatly my favorite song. Everytime I'm done listening to this song I just go "wow!" It's truely unbelieveable. ok thanks for listening to my comment :)
