My Oh My Lyrics

What on earth is going on in my heart
Has it turned as cold as stone
Seems these days I don't feel anything
Less it cuts me right down to the bone
What on earth is going on in my heart

My oh my you know it just don't stop
It's in my mind I wanna tear it up
I've tried to fight it tried to turn it off
But it's not enough
It takes a lotta love
It takes a lotta love my friend
To keep your heart from freezing
To push on till the end
My oh my

What on earth is going on in my head
You know I used to be so sure
You know I used to be so definite
Thought I knew what love was for
I look around these days and I'm not so sure

My oh my you know it just don't stop
It's in my mind I wanna tear it up
I've tried to fight it tried to turn it off
But it's not enough
It takes a lotta love
It takes a lotta love my friend
To keep your heart from freezing
To push on till the end
My oh my you know I just can't win
I burn it down it comes right back again
What kinda world is this we're living in
where you never win
It takes a lotta love
It takes a lotta love these days
To keep your heart from freezing
To keep your spirit free

My oh my you know it just don't stop
It's in my mind I wanna tear it up
I've tried to fight it tried to turn it off
But it's not enough
It takes a lotta love
It takes a lotta love my friend
To keep your heart from freezing
To push on till the end
My oh my it just don't stop
My oh my it just don't stop
My oh my it just don't stop

I don't think this song is much of a giving up or longing to be with somebody as it is that he is trying to find a way to make it work. "trying to fight it tried to turn it off" says that he is trying to fight the urge to quit. And love always prevails even though "it takes a lot of love to keep your heart from freezing, to push on to the end."

You're fightin with life, it gets harder every day to continue, not to become "frozen" in your heart...alone the line "It takes a lotta love my friend To keep your heart from freezing " shows this

This song to me is his feelings for someone that he can't have a relationship with. "it's in my mind, I wanna tear it up, I've tried to fight it tried to turn it off, but it's not enough" he knows they can't be together, but can't stop thinking about the other person. I totally relate and it's torture.

I think 'My oh My' which is one of my favourite songs is about giving up. It's about being disappointed by something and fighting to go on. I still start to cry whenever i hear it.

It's about being beaten. Those days when you come home and it doesn't seem like you make any difference at all in the world. You're just an outsider, cold and indifferent. He can remember a time when he was alive and everything seemed so much brighter. Now things have become thin and dim. Describes early twenties perfectly.

This song describes how I feel perfectly... recently I feel so numb... I didn't used to.. it's a good song really easy to just chill out to.

When I was really depressed this song was exactly how I felt. There is so much emotion to his voice and when I sing this song I can't help, but to feel every word of it. When he says, " it's in my heart I want to tear it up", I know that feeling all too well. You want to stop thinking and feeling that hurt/pain and you would do anything to get rid of it. It's as if you are stuck in a trance and you try everything to get out, but you can't. I love this song and the way it can cut so deep...even when I am in a good mood or when things are going well in my life.

Yeah I agree with most of these posts. Just trying to keep from being negative about the world.

Very somber tone. Love the mood. Just trying to fight through the days but its just getting harder...

...resonates a lot with my experience with Bipolar disorder - especially "My oh my you know I just can't win, I burn it down it comes right back again, What kind of world is this we're living in, Where you never win".
