The Girl Next Door (Screeching Weasel cover) Lyrics
White girl living in the big city
In a big apartment house
She's living with her boyfriend now
She drives off every day for school and work
She washes dishes now
And watches tv on the pull out couch
And every day's the same
White girl moved back to the suburbs
And she finally found a man
Who knows how to take care of her
She bought the perfect little house
And the lawn's well manicured
And she'd never missed a day of work
And every day's the same
White girl couldn't go on knowing
She was just here wasting her time
She drowned in the lake last night
They found her bloated body floating
But she still walks around
Performing all her daily chores
She still don't know what life's about
Cause every day's the same
And she's got no one to love
In a big apartment house
She's living with her boyfriend now
She washes dishes now
And watches tv on the pull out couch
And she finally found a man
Who knows how to take care of her
And the lawn's well manicured
And she'd never missed a day of work
She was just here wasting her time
She drowned in the lake last night
But she still walks around
Performing all her daily chores
And she's got no one to love

YOU FIRST TWO THAT POSTED ARE DUMB. WHY COME HERE AND SAY HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT? GO TO THE REAL ARTIST: SCREECHING WEASEL. SCREECHING FUCKING WEASEL.
I think this song is about a white girl who is being lazy with her life and her boyfriend does all the work. "White girl living in a city with a big apartment house. She's living with her boyfriend now. She drives off everyday from school and work she washes dishes now and watches tv on her pull out couch." Then it explains that that becomes a routine. "But everyday's the same, and everyday's the same." Then it goes on into the future where i would imagine that she has a fiance and she is being less lazy because she bought her own house and she goes to work. "White girl moved back to the suburbs and she finally found a man who knows how to take care of her. She bought the perfect little house And the lawn's well manicured and she's never missed a day of work." Then that becomes a routine. So a bit later on in her life she thinks that she is wasting time so she drowns herself. But knowing how she used to be lazy and then wanted to work and help herself she still worked after her death. Then it goes on that she still doesn't know what life is about because I would suppose she never had fun. "White girl couldn't go on knowing she was just here wasting her time she drowned in the lake last night. They found her bloated body floating but she still walks around performing all her daily chores. She still don't know what life's about."
This is what I think and I might be wrong. I just felt like taking the time to do this instead of complaining that screeching weasel made it or blink did. (Damn that was very hypocritical)
@blinkday182 Update:So lol she was never lazy. Turns out she just overworked herself and never had a hobby or fun. Worked herself to death I guess bc life was just boring and nothing ever changed. Only took 10 years to get that🤣

I like this song cuz I can relate...my life is such a routine and I feel like if I get off track, I'll die!!!
the best off buddha, i love it, 'cause every day's the same' is a really good line.
this is a cover of a Screeching Weasel song just like the longest line is a NOFX song
settle down dude. What difference does it make which lyric part they go to? If it's the same song it makes no difference
yeah i agree, maybe they didnt know it was a screeching weasel song, i personally think the screeching weasel version is better, but its still a good atempt at a cover, father seems to think its better than screeching weasel, but father knows shit
ok who cares who first made it?! Its awesome and that's all that matters
I know Screeching Weasel wrote it. But why did Blink182 release it first? Who recorded it first? Kill the Musicians and Buddha were probably recorded in an overlapping time frame. In any case, don't be a dick cuz someone didn't know it was Screeching Weasel that wrote it. It was covered VERY close to its written date, so anyone could have made that mistake.
Oh yeah, the song is really great, a total absurdist song. Screeching Weasel's version is much better, so check it out if you haven't.
DUDE! I THINK YOU MUGHT HAVE SAT ON THE CAPS LOCK KEY. THERE'S NO NEED TO BE SO FUCKING LOUD! Anyhoo, I like this song because it shows the way that some people live such mundane and ordinary lives, it's almost depressing. This song is a bit like '1985' by Bowling for Soup (and, no, I'm not going to say: 'BOWLIN 4 SOOP FUCKIN ROX! BLINK SUX!'), where you have this woman who was going to be a superstar model groupie, and ends up married to some guy with two kids living in the suburbs. Unless you realise your dreams and do something about them, you're going to end up like those chicks.
