#40 Lyrics

(Listener Supported version)

Tables turned again
And you my friend
You and I face each other
Oh time and time out
I know it's sometimes hard
But knowing just oh
That we will get along
Til we're old and gray
And doubled up
We're doubled up, we'll sit
And think of times were hard
And laugh of times when we thought
All it would end, it was all over
Then again
And know that I'm yours less rain
And to leave you out, I'll die
Oh my friend
It will be you until the end with me
Always
Always...

one of Dave's most poetic songs, if i do say so myself...incredibly romantic and dreamy...everyone in the world wants what Dave's talking about here, so this song definitely touches everyone...great song...

This song is very...euphoric. Only Dave could come up with something so beautiful.

this is not the original version.... this is still romantic and wonderful and all that

Very poetic, beautiful really. Like Hoity Toity sed, everyone wants this, so it kind of gives everone who hears it an nice warm 'n fuzzy feeling to think they'll grow old w/ someone they love

this is my favorite song in the whole world.

it doesn't get much more beautiful than this...

plus, i love how on the listener supported version some guy's screaming "thank you, dave!" because don't you just want to thank him after every song at his concerts?

my favorite thing about this song is that it is never the same. you can always recognize it was #40 but the lyrics always different. also, this song was origionally called ALWAYS.

i think that this song is about two friends who are of the opposite sex who know eachother so well that they are best friends the narrator wants them to be more than friends - but one thing he is sure of is that they will always be there for eachother in the end - friends or more than friends
