"Anthem" as written by Andrew John Connell, Donald George Johnson, Jeremy Edward Simon Kerr, Martin Richard Moscrop and Anthony Quigley....
A nation stands with heart in hand
To sing their anthem proudly
Voices raised to sing their praise
Of their hollow country
All this talk of freedom
And some talk of liberty
From your plastic podium
You try and convince me

I can't fall anymore
For some silver-tongued song
Your freedom isn't free
So let me say what freedom means to

I can't see red, white, and blue waving in the air
I don't hear the bombs bursting and I don't even care
I'm sorry for my lack of faith
I'm not the greatest patriot
If this is all their is to freedom I don't want it

I can't fall anymore
For some silver-tongued song
Your freedom isn't free
So let me say what freedom means to

Pushing us a drug that you call freedom and democracy
Promise us that selfishness is the means for happiness
I burned that bridge so long ago that I can hardly see
Anything but solace in what freedom means to me

I can't fall anymore
For some silver-tongued song
Freedom isn't free
So let me say what freedom means to

It cannot mean to serve ourselves
That doesn't mean a thing
It doesn't mean to give the license
To seek ourselves in anything
That would be slavery to ourselves it isn't free
Jesus Christ, the only thing that freedom means to me.

General CommentOur country is selfish. This is true. But, I think the song leans more to the idea of where freedom comes from. Our country is built up to have the "ultimate freedom". But, our freedom doesnt come from a flag. It comes from Jesus Christ. We have a god that loves us so much that He lets us decide what to do. "Your freedom isnt free", clearly Reese feels that freedom isnt real freedom without Jesus. "Jesus Christ the only thing that freedom means to me!"

General Commentthough we may be a free country, our government seems to mostly serving itself and bettering our country while not paying attention to the smaller countries who suffer in our wake. Though we've pulled together after 9-11 we're going back to the same selfish country we were again.

General CommentWow, this song, and practically all older five iron frenzy songs, has great lyrics. Just listening to the song music is good enough. But when you read the lyrics they really are great.

General Commentmy firend wants to join the army and said this is an "ignorant" song, I laughed said "cant hide the truth forever" and turned it WAY up. Great song, though its sad that Reese is right

General CommentThis song is saying that we have lost are rights promesed by the Constitution, because of the selfeshness and the non-Godlyness in the American government. America seeks itsself insted of God. America ceases to be great because America ceases to be good. God is the orgin of all good so are nation cannot stand with out God no matter how hard we try.
