If I Ever Lose My Faith In You Lyrics
You could say I lost my faith in science and progress
You could say I lost my belief in the holy church
You could say I lost my sense of direction
You could say all of this and worse, but
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do
Some would say I was a lost man in a lost world
You could say I lost my faith in the people on TV
You could say I'd lost my belief in our politicians
They all seemed like game show hosts to me
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do
I could be lost inside their lies without a trace
But every time I close my eyes I see your face
I never saw no miracle of science
That didn't go from a blessing to a curse
I never saw no military solution
That didn't always end up as something worse, but
Let me say this first
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do
You could say I lost my belief in the holy church
You could say I lost my sense of direction
You could say all of this and worse, but
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do
You could say I lost my faith in the people on TV
You could say I'd lost my belief in our politicians
They all seemed like game show hosts to me
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do
I could be lost inside their lies without a trace
But every time I close my eyes I see your face
That didn't go from a blessing to a curse
I never saw no military solution
That didn't always end up as something worse, but
Let me say this first
If I ever lose my faith in you
There'd be nothing left for me to do

This song is simply a song about focus. The focus of a man on someone, perhaps his child, perhaps his wife or family. If he lost his faith in them, he'd surely die. (In no uncertain terms).
My girlfriend of 11 months broke up with me about 4 hours ago and i've spend most of the time since listening to this song. it's amazing, listening to sting while depressed puts a different shine on a world that just stopped shining
really incredible song.. creates a sort of still frame of my life at this point right now, and in a way only sting can do. even if the "lose my faith in you" part isn't about a significant other, i think it can still be relevant for the recognition that everything's fleeting i'm going to stop talking before i babble. incoherent + tired = not good.
but this song rocks. hcore.
Good song - Sting, his former chosen career as an English teacher, can sure write lyrics. My favorite line:
"You could say I'd lost my belief in our politicians They all seemed like game show hosts to me"
I'm surprised that I've never heard anyone quote this line with our recent climate of current events in the U.S.
I like this song very much..... I think the great thing about it is that love is the only thing what is left in this world. If ypu loose your faith in everything else, love is the only thing worth living for.
just perfect
I think it's deliberately vague -- the "you" could be a loved one, could be God.
one of my favorite songs...really catchy tune with great lyrics!
love this song, and yeah nice catchy tune
U2takemehigher, I strongly disagree with you on this one. This song could definately be contemorary Christian. If you take the lyrics from a Christian perspective, as if you were singing them to the Lord, it makes a fantastic devotional song.
He supposively wrote this to his manager...but it's still a lovely song.
