Spin the Black Circle Lyrics

See this needle...a see my hand...
Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently...
Well here it comes...I touch the plane...
Turn me up...won't turn you away...

Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...spin the black, spin the black...
Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...whoa...

Pull it out...a paper sleeve...
Oh, my joy...only you deserve conceit...
I'm so big...a-my whole world...
I'd rather you...rather you...than her...

Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...spin the black, spin the black...
Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...whoa...oh...

You're so warm...oh, the ritual...when I lay down your crooked arm...

Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...spin the black, spin the black...
Spin, spin...spin the black circle
Spin, spin...
Spin the black (5x) circle
Spin the black circle... (4x)
Spin, spin... (6x)

This is an excellent tribute to the vinyl album, and about the good times and escape that can be had just by listening to music. It talks about how his records are always there for him, even when the rest of the world isn't.

This song is genius. About vinyl, but only on the surface. It is a metaphor for something else, and no, it's not drugs...

heroin maybe, "see this needle, see my hand" then he talks about laying down your crooked arm as a ritual, as if he were speaking of an addiction, but i can see how maybe it could be vinyl too...

not every song is about drugs, lol. It is definitely about vinyl albums. The crooked arm is the needle you move onto the record to play it, and he's saying "spin the black circle" (the vinyl). No doubt about it, he's singing about his love for vinyl and music in general as an escape.

I definitely see euphoria (via heroin) as a metaphor for the enjoyment of just zoning out to some tunes on vinyl. Whether it's implied or not, I guess it's up to your own interpretation.

Definately about spinning some vinyl. Could this be about H... not a chance.

oh, its definitely about vinyl. but it was also definitely made to sound like he was talking about heroin, and he did such a good job making the lyrics sound that way that they won a grammy. if you doubt that it is about records, just look at the all the singles off of vitalogy (if you dont know what they look like, go here http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/PearlJam/chords/framex.html and click on singles). theyre all pictures of records. so anyway, its a pretty basic song: he loves records so much that its like hes addicted to them. and, hey, interesting fact, all of pearl jams albums come out a week earlier on vinyl than on cd.

geeze, i forgot to mention the most obvious thing. take a look at the title of the song.

Spin is an interesting one, because when you first hear it you think it may be about drugs because of the first line"See this needle...a see my hand... Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently... ". But once you find out its about vinyl it all makes much more sense.

"he loves records so much that its like hes addicted to them." - I really am terribly addicted to music, but I only have one record, mainly because my record player is a piece of crap.

STBC is about the bands love for vinyl, the scratchy imprefect sound that only comes from vinyl.

whity, vinyl does not have to sound scratchy and imperfect. Yes, it is hard to take care of, but if you do it sounds clean and much closer to perfect than any CD or MP3. I'm a big vinyl collector and a lot of people are skeptical, until I put on some clean vinyl and they swear it sounds better than CD.

leamanc is spot on, well cared for vinyl will outshine (in alot of instances) the CD equivalent. This is more so a rule with music from the 50's, 60's 70's etc... Want super clear vinyl? Try early Japanese presses as these a renound for their audiophile qualities.
