Cars And Calories Lyrics

Her life was magazines and faithful TV screens selling an empty dream
of cars and calories and everything in between the sun and Saturn's ring,
but the price tag can't be seen and it took bites out of her insides till she was just a hollow shell.
She grew up in east LA watching celebrities living out all of her dreams.
The plastic canopy of US royalty drew her gaze towards the sky and away from her own mind.
And it took bites out of her insides till she was just a hollow shell.
And at home her mother cried cause daddy had something on the side and they didn't look up when she sighed.
And when August came around, the bathing suits were on the ground replaced by a cotton cloak.
To see her own reflection was like squinting in the sun.
And when all tomorrow brings is a set if broken wings it takes bites out of your insides till you are just a hollow shell.

these lyrics aren't very confusing, but they get across one of the best points in this world, that applies to a great number of Americans. Its fucking sad, but there are alot of people that are hollow shells in this world.

This song is about one girl who is fake. When it says "To see her own reflection was like squinting in the sun" thats what it means, someone who is fake and isnt themself.

this song is about.. or at least how i took it.. is about a girl whose a big dReamER.. she lives in a cloud.. she can't see who she is.. (or her "reflection") cuz shes lost in a world of magazines and movie stars.. but the life she wants isn't possible.. which makes her more depressed.. and she continues to live in her dream of movie stars and magazines... this song is my best friend to me.. summed up in a song.. and shes the least fake person i know.. just a dreamer... being killed by the ideals of society..

This song reminds me of an awesome book I just finished reading. It's called "I Was a Teenage Fairy" by Francesca Lai Block. It's about these two kids who are forced to be child, then teenage models. i love it when he says "The plastic canopy, of US royalty"

when i first heard this song i wasn't sure what the meaning was behind it, but the more i thought about it the more i thought it was about anorexia and someone wanting so bad to be like the movie stars and wanting to look like them. one of my friends also told me that he read some interview or something and that was what they said it meant, who knows, i can see it this way and the ways mentioned before make perfect sense as well

This song is about anorexia.

This song is not about a "shallow" girl, or anorexia. It is about a girl who is a dreamer, not shallow. She wants a better life. The song keeps saying "take a bites out of her insides" this is not saying making her more shallow or anorexic, it is saying that all these little things take away her dreams, her passion, her "better life." It is just taking her down to become a regular un-happy person. If yo uget right down to it this is a really depressing song.

I think this song is about a girl who wants to have a life that's real. But she's surrounded by all the fake things in life. Cars, Calories, etc. And all this fake-ness is "taking bites out of her insides". It makes her sad that the whole world is obsessed with fake things. Everytime she does something fake, it hurts her inside because she wants to be real but just can't. She becomes a hollow shell, like many people out there.

This song is about anorexia, Chris said so in an interview. its about a girl whose life is messed up, her parents have problems, and she dreams of living the holly wood dream, and so she become sanorexia to fit the model. this is not my opinion, this has been explained officially.

Yeah, this is a good reality check for those that aren't satisfied w/ what they have. This song is about a girl who tries to be something she's not. I wouldn't say it's about anorexia persay... I mean, maybe it is but there's no way we could know that.
