Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
Ghosts are spirits--the deceased. Why would a ghost be scared of falling down? That doesn't make sense. Perhaps "ghosts" are living people--people who are afraid of living, taking chances, failing. They float through life tiptoeing around, keeping track of their mistakes and trying not to make more.
"It's hard to see" Living like a ghost is like living with the blinds over your eyes, like a sheet that is perpetually constricting movement, thought, vision.
But you decide to make a change. You try. You fail. (story of my life).
But aha! Through overcoming that debilitating fear of failure, you finally tear the covering away from your eyes and you come in first!
What an inspirational song. My goodness, this is wonderful.
for some reason this song used to give me an uneasy feeling, like i was about to throw up or something. maybe it was the whiny guitar....i dont know, but its a great song now that i dont feel sick every time i listen to it
oh man i love it how it blends from 2 wrongs into this one. if i have head phones on in bed it wakes me up real fast. the last verse he may be talking about cheating on something or someone? i dunno.
"Ghosts are scared
of falling down
It's hard to see
He said to me"
I love this part. One of my favourite set of lyrics ever.
It turns the idea of ghosts being scary on its head. We are meant to be scared of ghosts, but in this case I imagine a classic white sheet with holes in it speaking to the singer, saying he's scared. And when this ghost is on the floor, it's like the opposite of what we see - we see normal light, except for the ghost - but the ghost sees total darkness, and it's scary for the ghost. Especially when he's on the floor after having fallen down the stairs or something.
I have no idea what that rambling stream-of-consciousness dissection of the lyrics was actually meant to mean, but they really do strike a nerve for me.
And yes I do realise I sound like a but of a mentalist now.

this is my favorite song... i dont think its horribly depressing, but its sad
when songs give you uneasy feelings... you know it's good music.
the cure does that to me sometimes.. gives me these disturbing, creepy feelings that make me feel scared yet.. alive?
i love music like that, as strange as it is. mogwai can do that a lot.

The live version of this song on Government Commissions is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard..

I think this song can be interpreted religiously.
