I Remember Larry Lyrics

Say, do you remember that guy Larry next door
Well, he always was the neighborhood clown
Like the time he pulled my pants off
and he took those color pictures
And posted copies all over town
Or the time that he dumped toxic waste on my lawn
Or those wacky prank phone calls
from midnight til dawn
What a crazy kid Larry was, always foolin' around

Boy, what a joker
What a funny, funny guy
I'll never forget about Larry
No matter how I try

Say, do you remember when I lost all my hair
'Cause Lar' gave me that Nair shampoo
And hey, how 'bout the day he put Ben Gay
inside my jockstrap
And filled my toothpaste tube up with glue
All those wedgies he gave,
all those shoestrings he tied
All those brownies he made with the Ex-lax inside
O Lar', I swear, it was a laugh a minute with you

Boy, what a joker
What a funny, funny guy
I'll never forget about Larry
No matter how I try

You know I couldn't help but laugh
Even though he treated me like slime
Remember when he cut my car in half?
Well, he really got me good that time!

Say, do you remember
when I broke in Larry's house
Late at night and tied his mouth with a rag
Then I dragged him by his ankles
to the middle of the forest
And stuffed him in a big plastic bag
If the cops ever find him,
who knows what they'd say
But I'm sure if ol' Lar' were still with us today
He would have to agree with me
it was a pretty good gag

Oh boy, what a joker
What a funny, funny guy
I'll never forget about Larry
No matter how I try
Oh boy, what a joker
What a funny, funny guy
I'll never forget about Larry
No matter how I try
No matter how I try

Oh, I remember Larry.

As Demau Senae already knows, the gibberish at the end is really a recording of Weird Al saying, "Wow, you must have an awful lot of free time on your hands," playing backwards.

I never even noticed he said jibberish at the end! I, no joke, have listened to this song a LOT of times and never noticed!

It took me a while to figure out what he was saying. My friend Larry (appropriately enough) decided to find out, so we converted the mp3 to wav format, opened it in the sound recorder, and chose the reverse option.

It's actually pretty funny that he would just go and add that (I'm sure that was the point). When I first heard it, I thought it said something like 'wolf on every someone.' Heh.

The song is about Weird Al reminiscing about the boy (Larry) who created him into a revengeful psychopath. We all know Weird Al was anti-social (this explains his love for TV...) We all know how Weird Al depicts violent and macabre scenes with greusome detail, then somehow manages to coat it with soothing vocals, or melody. Perhaps Larry represents a child-hood bully, and how Al wishes he could have dealt with the antogonist.

You know what Demau Senae, King Nothing, and Jeffbot (along with your friend Larry).... you guys "must have an awful lot of free time on your hands." But if it weren't for all your free time, I never would have known that about this song.

This is a rather sick song...I can see why people think Weird Al is a psychopath. He got his nickname during his freshman year of college. I guess this song explains why some people might think that he needs mental help.

Should be noted that this song is a parody of the style of the song "see the constellation" by They Might be Giants. Interesting that, before I had heard of TMBG, my favorite Weird Al songs (I remember Larry, Everything you know is wrong) were both parodies of their style, and now I'm a big TMBG fan.

I love this song. It makes me feel fuzzy. Or possibly murderous. You know, whichever.
