This is not Weird Al. As I recall it is Dr. Demento.
I like the song of course, from the good old days of comedic songs.
The song isn't really making fun of anything, as far as I know. It might be, but as I understand it' he's singing more or less about the american dream, how 'anyone' can go from a nobody to being wealthy. shrug
It is Weird AL, from the IN 3D album. Not a paraody, but one of his originals where he plays in the form of a artist. This happens to be reggae, so you could say he's pretending to be Bob Marley, but it's not as obvious as some of the others he's done ("Dare to be Stupid" = Devo; "Genius in France" = Zappa). But I think he nails the song, and it's probably my favorite on that album. As catchy as any Marley song. I just invision Bob himself wearing an Izod shirt and selling Amway...gotta laugh.
