My Lover's Gone Lyrics
My lover's gone, his boots no longer by my door
He left at dawn, as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more, I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earhly ship will ever bring him home again
My lover's gone, I know that kiss will be my last
No more his song, the tune upon his lips has passed
I sing alone, while I watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earthly shps will ever bring him home again,
Bring him home again
He left at dawn, as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more, I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earhly ship will ever bring him home again
My lover's gone, I know that kiss will be my last
No more his song, the tune upon his lips has passed
I sing alone, while I watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earthly shps will ever bring him home again,
Bring him home again

I really like this song, the music has a kind of haunting, ghostly quality that reflets the idea of her dead boyfriend and I like the gentleness of it.
I love this song... it's beautiful and haunting and... just overall great. It's funny that it makes you think of WWI, catherine, because I always saw it as being earlier... like, 1800's or before, when people used to get lost at sea all the time... can't really explain it though.
I was 9 when i first heard this song, and it's one of those songs that have always haunted me, I remeber being drawn to it for his dramatic and tragic air it gives. I always thought that, her lover was a sailor traveling to new lands, and that his desire to see the world was stronger than his love for her or that hes sunk with a ship as a sailor
First time I heard this song it reminded me of the old stories of armies sailing off to war and the wives would watch the horizons from time to time to catch a glimpse of the returning ships. This song has the haunting addition of her premaniton(sp) of her lovers death.
i think he's dead. i'm not saying he wasn't a sailor or anything, probably was, but "no earthly ships will ever bring him home again" means he's gone gone. for good. "earthly vessel". he's no longer on earth.
this song makes me think of a woman in the world war one era, whose main man has had to ship off (to the navy, of course) ...
i didnt used to like this song i found it too repititive and thought the lyrics were too weird but after a while i accepted it and its a really good one to play on guitar if you get a tab. So simple.
This song makes me cry sometimes... It's so sad, but its really a great song.
This song is so depressing I can't listen to it. Especially when my fiance goes out to sea for a few months. It makes me cry and makes me afraid he might not come home.
Dido really captured the deep feeling of lonliness that the sea can give you...a creepy but good song
