My Lover's Gone Lyrics
He left at dawn, as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more, I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earhly ship will ever bring him home again
My lover's gone, I know that kiss will be my last
No more his song, the tune upon his lips has passed
I sing alone, while I watch the ocean
My lover's gone, no earthly shps will ever bring him home again,
Bring him home again
this song makes me think of a woman in the world war one era, whose main man has had to ship off (to the navy, of course) ...
i didnt used to like this song i found it too repititive and thought the lyrics were too weird but after a while i accepted it and its a really good one to play on guitar if you get a tab. So simple.
I really like this song, the music has a kind of haunting, ghostly quality that reflets the idea of her dead boyfriend and I like the gentleness of it.
This song makes me cry sometimes... It's so sad, but its really a great song.
I love this song... it's beautiful and haunting and... just overall great. It's funny that it makes you think of WWI, catherine, because I always saw it as being earlier... like, 1800's or before, when people used to get lost at sea all the time... can't really explain it though.
This song is so depressing I can't listen to it. Especially when my fiance goes out to sea for a few months. It makes me cry and makes me afraid he might not come home.
Dido really captured the deep feeling of lonliness that the sea can give you...a creepy but good song
um... i normally wouldnt be one to like dido (and i dont mean to offend anyone haha) but this is a really good song
Dido really has a way of capturing feelings like this. -tears- It makes me think of a woman in Spain (For some reason...)... And her husband went off to fight England. You know that big war thing with all the rebels (Origin of the word punk...) and the armadas? That.
I was out late one time after a night out trying to get over my ex and I walked home... and I stopped at a place overlooking the sea, looking into the cold, dawn sky, whilst listening to this. And d'you know, I've never felt so low in my whole life
