Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh, my little girl

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

It annoys me that people always relate DM to drugs and mistake Dave as the songwriter. Martin has written nearly all DM songs from 1982-2001! Also, Dave's drug abuse was not THAT serious during Violator, anyway. Please don't always see him as a junkie.

The song is about being in love and not ruining everything with unnecessary words or caring about what other people say, obviously. The narrator is telling his girlfriend to simply enjoying being with him, enjoying the silence.
