Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.
Who's in the bunker? Who's in the bunker?
Women and children first, and the children first, and the children
I'll laugh until my head comes off
I'll swallow 'til I burst
Until I burst, until I

Techno Ted

Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
global warming. Yhorn(sp?) has talked about global warming at live performances and in interviews, and is very concerned. somewhere hidden in the kid a booklet, or perhaps only on certain kid a booklets, there was supposed to be a list of places where polar ice was melting.
this helps to explain: We're not scaremongering This is really happening Happening We're not scaremongering This is really happening Happening Mobiles skwrking Mobiles chirping Take the money run Take the money run Take the money
we're not scaremongering, this is really happening. that seems pretty straightforward to me, towards all the gw deniers. statements about the mobiles, i don't think i even need to say anything about that. and take the money and run, well look how much money is being made by these oil companies. All of this is stuff Yhorn hsa talked about before.
I am pretty sure that this song is about global warming, with an underlying message about privelage at the expense of others.
i can totally relate with the writing style of Radiohead. Nothing is definate and then the meaning can change for u personally because u can bring your mood to the song. This makes there music more exciting and geared for repeated listening. I am sure the group gets a kick out of listening to people trying to figure them out..having said that...if this song is about global warming then it seems like there is a conflict about what side of the debate. Is it an Ice age or global warming?....i dont think Radiohead is gonna trust info from politicians positioning themselves to make money off the fears of the public

Ice age coming
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both
Ice age coming
Ice age coming
Throw it on the fire
Throw it on the fire
Throw it on the fire
