Wendy Clear

This song is about how you wish it could work out with that girl or guy, but for some reason or another there is something in the way. After thinking about it you don't know what to do, or what is best. And you wish it could just all work out.

a little while ago i broke up with my boyfriend, and right now she's with another guy, who i know doesn't love her and shes having doubts. and even though there were problems with us i know we still love each other and i wanna give us anotehr shot. so this song, right now, sums up how i feel, with the whole "So Ill see you with another guy Who pretends not to hear you when you cry" and "Is it something Ill regret? Why do I want what I cant get?". so that's what the song means to me right now.

'Wendy Clear' is a song Mark wrote about this girl he had a crush on. He liked her but he really couldn't date her because she was a very influential person in the music industry. So them dating was a very tricky situation. 'I wish it didn't have to be so bad,' is how the song goes

"Let's take the boat out on the bay forget your job for jst one day" means to me just forget all the obligations you have and live life for a day.

"Either way our band gets dropped" shows either way its just not going to go the way he wants it to.

The Chorus shows that the singer would do anything "play with a nuclear device" to even have a chance with her

"Everyone's getting left ou in the cold" seems to me that everyone involved with what's going on or just involved with this girl is "getting left out in the cold"

"so I'll see you with another guy who pretends not to see you when you cry o ya" i agree with what the others have said it just sucks to see her with that guy whos just a jerk when you know shed be so much better with you even though its jst not gonna work out you "just wish it didnt have to be so bad.

the part wer he says "is this something ill regret why do i want what i cant get" is saying that is not going after her like you want to and moving on going to be something he regrets. the second part is showing by the fact that he cant get her the desperation he feels about everything thats gone on and well how he "wishes that it didnt have to be so bad"

I love this song, and also I LOVE BLINK, they are jst an awesome band. im so glad that they are back together and that i get to have a chance to see them live.

First off, One very important note that I feel is overlooked is that Mark Hoppus bought a boat he named "Wendy". And in boating terms, when you are approaching the harbor, high traffic area or bridge, the harbor master will say the name of your boat and then "clear" when it is ok for you to proceed. So harbor master must say "Wendy Clear" every time his boat is ready for passage through a line of boats or small passage/open bridges. So I feel the boat line "lets take the boat out on the bay forget your job for just one day" may be linked more to the title of the song, rather than the meaning itself. I have also heard through mark QUOTES "I wrote this song during a small stint with Mxpx and hanging out with them" which leads me to believe it may have been about a girl who was dating or close to Mxpx. After hearing "I play with a nuclear device" I feel that may be a hint of approaching a girl he likes, but cannot be with due to her dating some one else in a band. Also the second verse "I see you with another guy..." also further implies that this person is with some one else, but is unhappy.

On a side note, I have heard some people say that Wendy Clear was written about some one in the music indusrty who is his current wife, skye everly(daughter of one of the everly brothers). This is not true as the song was already recorded before they met(during the all the small things shoot) even though Skye was an MTV talent scout at the time. This is just my two cents, nothing more, nothing less. Unless you get 5 mins alone with Mark and no camera's, we'll prob never get the in depth meaning, but hey, its a start.

yeah like theres something in the way and you think you should just move on but you don't want to cos you wanna be with that person so much and you don't think anybody could care about them as much as you do but you know it's not gunna work and you just "wish it didn't have to be so bad"
