Heavy hung the canopy of blue
Shade my eyes and I can see you
White is the light that shines through the dress that you wore
She lay in the shadow of the wave
Hazy were the visions of her playing
Sunlight on her eyes but moonshine made her cry every time
Green is the color of her kind
Quickness of the eye deceives the mind
Envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned
Shade my eyes and I can see you
White is the light that shines through the dress that you wore
She lay in the shadow of the wave
Hazy were the visions of her playing
Sunlight on her eyes but moonshine made her cry every time
Green is the color of her kind
Quickness of the eye deceives the mind
Envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned

One other thing. If you have only heard the version on the More soundtrack, you are missing out. There is the one above, and another.I think it is a BBC recording. WAY BETTER than the album version.
really, i agree with you
@bbbcswr I couldn't agree more. One of the best things they have done. It is a BBC recording. I have had it for years on bootleg, but it is now available on The Early Years box set. It is listed as Green is the Colour and Careful With That Axe, but it is just that one track. I know they segued Green and Careful live, but I don't think the end bit sounds very Careful-ish. Very beautiful though.
@bbbcswr I like the More album version better, the flute sounds beautiful.
