Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange
Our love is no other
Than me alone
For me all day
Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused

All over you all over me
The sun the fields the sky
I've often tried to hold the sea
The sun the fields the tide
Pay me now lay me down

Oh yeah

Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange
Our love is no other
Than me alone
For me all day
Our love is like angels
Pinned down and abused

All over you all over me
The sun the fields the sky
I've often tried to hold the sea
The sun the fields the tide
Pay me now, lay me down

All over you all over me
Pay me now, lay me down

Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange
Our love is no other
Than me alone
Hey hey hey

All over you all over me
The sun the fields the sky
I've often tried to hold the sea
The sun the fields the tide
Pay me now, lay me down, yeah yeah yeah, hey ah oh

The singer is very religious and just like all of his songs, it pertains to certain religious imagery. For this one, I believe he uses a verse about Luke 8:22-25 in which Jesus calms the sea. It's a metaphor for having faith even when life get's stormy. Singers like to use religious verses to resonate with their lives to make them into hit songs like this.

It's such a great song too!
