I've got some scattered pictures lying on my bedroom floor
Reminds me of the times we shared
Makes me wish that you were here
Now it seems I've forgotten my purpose in this life
All the songs have been erased
Guess I've learned from my mistakes
Open the past and present now and we are there
Story to tell and I am listening
Open the past and present and the future too
It's all I've got and I'm giving it to you
Loose ends tied in knots leaving a lump down in my throat
Gagging on a souvenir
Lodged to fill another year
Drag it on and on until my skin is ripped to shreds
Leaving my self wide open
Living out a sacrifice
If you got no one and I got no place to go
Would it be alright? Could it be alright?
Reminds me of the times we shared
Makes me wish that you were here
Now it seems I've forgotten my purpose in this life
All the songs have been erased
Guess I've learned from my mistakes
Story to tell and I am listening
Open the past and present and the future too
It's all I've got and I'm giving it to you
Gagging on a souvenir
Lodged to fill another year
Drag it on and on until my skin is ripped to shreds
Leaving my self wide open
Living out a sacrifice
Would it be alright? Could it be alright?

"Scattered" is a brilliant and loving song NOT ABOUT BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG"S FUCKING GIRLFRIENDS OR PAST LOVERS!
IT"S ABOUT HIS DAD.
But I believe in peace, and this is just Billie's perspective. It could be anything you want. But...
If you're a devoted Green Day fan (such as I and a lot of you guys and women) you know that this song is about Billie's dad, Andrew Armstrong, and the very few but heartfelt photos and memories the two has in their photos. For the rest of this comment just relate it to the lyrics.

Now and we are there. Story to tell and I am listening. Open the past and present. And the future too. It's all I've got and I'm giving it up to you."

this might be my favourite green day song of all time (and that's saying something) i loved it when they did it live and i never get sick of it. : )
this song is perfect.... it reminds me of my girlfriend, how i know when it ends all i'm gonna have is memories "scattered pictures lying on my bedroom floor" or the refrain when he says "..... it's all i have and i'm givin it to you" it makes me think of how all the small things are making the difference to her... and i am so in love....yeah so anyway, i wish more people liked this gon, or green day for that matter, they truly are one of the greater bands of the last decade and a half
