Letting others be your main source of inspiration for your ideas only weakens you. This, in my opinion, is kind of hard. Since, all that we are is based on all that we see, smell and hear. Even our invidualism is inspired by songs like "make yourself" which was written by someone else other than you.

i love this song, and i think every incubus song is amazing, musically and poetically. this song is so true, and if everyone could listen to it, and understand it, so many more people would be enlightened.
the way the message is put across however, makes the song. for example: " and if i f me, i'll f me in my own way!" only incubus could write a song like this, and make it so beautiful. and incubus is just as beautiful as their songs, i got a chance to meet them, and although it was short, it was sweet. people often say stars/musicians are down to earth, but they don't get more down to earth than incubus.

I think that this song is about how the only way to feel good about yourself is to not let other "mold" who you are. Instead you need to take charge and make yourself.
these 2 interpretations are good, i also think its about how people tend to act as puppets, letting others make them, in a sense. for example, when people act or dress in a certain way to avoid criticism...thats letting someone else 'make you'. or when people get mad and say 'well, he MADE me mad because he did blah blah blah'...so?? you are the one and only person in control of your feelings, emotions, and actions. make yourself.

isn't "make" yourself means fuck yourself in this songs. I mean bradon said he fuck himself in his own way. And fuck in this song is all about control in your life, of how you want to screw your own life not by the others. Walah!
I agree with antifox64. Don't let anyone take control of your life. Mold yourself into what you want to be in life. Not what others want you to be. If you want a high life, then live it that way. Incubus rules!!
