I agree with the above comments - it's about her losing her physical attraction towards him BECAUSE of the emotional fucktard he turned out to be. That's why it's called "Carrion", like Fiona herself said, "as in dead flesh or rotting corpse". His body-persona is just rotten now and she could do without him, but very deeply she's still hanging around out of respect or fond memories for what they had before.

i think this song is about losing your attraction to a man because he's no good to you or himself. he is possibly abusive but definitely destructive.

I agree with you, Swindler (btw: like your choice in music), but I also think she's not totally over him. She's like what you said ("I don't need you" etc), but I can't say she's really over him, otherwise why would she want to save him? Plus she says she wants the strength to walk away, so at this point, she doesn't have this strength, so she can't really leave him, though she claims she can. Okay that completes my monologue. Anyone agree? (reading this back, this doesn't even make sence to me... hehe, kiddin')
I agree FeyTH. it takes some thinking to comprehend but yes it makes sense after a bit ahah. its either he hurt her or vise versa and/or he wanted to "take a break" and is hoping toget back together but she jsut wants to keep strong and stand her ground.

I believe this song is about feeling trapped in a relationship where whatever love there used to be has long dissapeared. It would seem as though fiona no longer has feelings for the boy (my feel for you boy, is decaying in front of me) and has left him without feeling any love or regret or pain, just indifference (I've gone away) - no part of her remains with him. I was trapped in a relationship for years with a man I did not love then eventually when I left he tried to get me back, but he couldn't effect me at all any more, because although the relationship officially ended that day, I had been 'gone away' in spirit for a long time.
yeah i can so relate to this song right now unfortuantely. it's like what you all said, he broke up with me but is still "holding on" i guess...you know, calling, asking to see me, things like that. i personally think he's scared of this relationship, so yeah, the chorus <3
