Get Gone

I love how Fiona seems to have a song that fits every rugged solo emotion. Whenever I feel low but don't really feel ready to talk about it yet, I'll put her on and it's like having a conversation with your emotions. She speaks to you... and each line can be interpreted and re-read to relate to how you're feeling at the time.

Anna I love this song too! My favorite line is the part "So put away that meat you’re selling cuz I do know what’s good for me- and I’ve done what I could for you" That part is the best.. I just love it. It's so interesting to me. The whole bitterness is excellent. I totally agree what everything you said.

anna, i couldn't agree more. "fuckin go" somehow is the most powerful line in the entire song. something as simple as that.

Do you know what the best line in this song is?? Where she goes "Fuckin go".. I don't usually curse when I speak... but Fiona sings those words with the right mixture of bitterness, irritation and annoyance, that I just want to yell it along with her... Do you ever get like that? Where you just get so fed up -- you can't help but demand that somebody "gets gone"?

i would definitely have to agree with both anna and jazzy because i am a bitter girl and this song gets me going. the best line, in my opinion is "How can I deal with this, if he won’t get with this? M'I gonna heal from this; he won’t admit to it." it fits my ex and i perfectly. that guy that just can't admit that he did anything wrong or will try to tell you that nothing is wrong... you know the type

oh geez..."fuckin go" is DEFINITLY the best part of this song. but anyways this is my most favorite song in the whole world...hehe...I can relate...bitter, sadness, anger...oh geez she's good.

To me, this song is about one thing only: my father.

My favorite part of the song is: How many times can it escalate, till it elevates to a place I can t breathe? That sentence captures her feelings so perfectly. A beautiful way of saying 'this is to much, it's done'

LOVE THIS SONG! Especially near the end of it when the strings come in STRONG. It's great! I always pump up the volume when that part comes on. :D

fiona..what can i say..that hasnt been said already..?? i think..as many of other fiona songs..its about letting go of a bad ass self-absorbing relationship.. its about how she knows this guy is not worthy of her trying and fighting..yet she still keeps on doin it.. and the momment comes when she knows..what she really needs..and now she truly knows..hes not giving it to her...heck he doesnt even gives a shit about her..now she knows..and now she knows what do to.."fuckin GO!!" people! its awsome to hear a song..that makes u feel strong enough to say..FUCKIN GO!..cuz theres nothing else to do..ive done what i could..and imma do whats best..to heal and to move on!.. this song has been a great example for me.. to do just the same thing!

man, everybody else loves fuckin' go too! I love you all--you're all so cool She just sounds so hurt, but at the same time like she's going to tell you to leave or she's going to MAKE you leave I also love her voice when she sings "i do know what's good for me", she sounds so petulant and pissed off. man, why am i dissecting. this whole song is incredible.

The thing I love about Fiona Apple's lyric-writing is that it's so easy for me to relate to what she's saying. This song totally fits my ex-GF and I - the fact she and I can't seem to stay broken up, but can't seem to stay together is another issue. :(
