My friend thinks this song is about a friend or lover who betrays Phil and Phil is moving on and he's changing to avoid it from happening again. No matter the pain or cost. Fucking brutal song, my favorite off Far Beyond Driven.
Yeah this is one of their best songs ever(And thats saying something).
I would guess it's about a lover that he treated him wrong and he has had enough of it, so he is moving on.
And then towards the end, well I dunno Phil gets a little scary.
IMO It's about a woman he's been trying to breakup with and she uses sex to keep him in her life, even though they are not friendly anymore.So he ends up treating her bad so she will hate him , so he can get rid of her forever.

this is probably way off track but to me this song sounds like its about [phil] having an abusive lover or something, or maybe somebody who is just really clingy [like a siamese twin], and then in the end he ends up abusing her to try & get rid of her... ?? Dunno..... ?? Anybody got ideas?

What I like about this song is how Phil compares the act of "shedding skin" to the getting rid of his significant other, just basically getting rid of her for good, and "stepping out of himself" into a brand new "him"! Just as a snake sheds all of its iritating skin and leaves it behind, and after it sheds it brand new, clean, and purged
