I feel that this song is most definitely about Philip overcoming the bullshit ordeals he had to go through in his past. He's been put down and spit on for so long, he all of a sudden finds a surge of power and new life from within, after realizing how much of a badass and powerful individual he truly is. It's about leaving the past behind, and transforming into a god, above the pieces of shit who once stepped all over you. This song is about fucking redemption. Long live heavy metal \m/\m/

its about the time when you truly find yourself and realize amazing possiblities once you understand that religion is fake and you as an individual are more powerful than you realized before because of all the hypocrites who say their religious bringing you down for no good reason. you just gotta realize your better than that and you will become godsize. This music speaks to me.

I think this is about his own struggle with how he saw himself, maybe he was really shy, and saw himself as a weak little pussy early on and one day he snapped and said fuck it, and started becoming the bad ass anselmo that he became, thats the meaning i get from it..... "no more the small one the weak one the frightened one".. its only when you lose everything that youre free to do anything, people on the verge of suicide can achieve so much if they only put their minds to it, i think thats the whole point of the album name "far beyond driven".... thats my say, go pantera!!

To me, this song could be about the devil. I'm not a Christian so I'm not preaching or anything like that, but I get that impression from lyrics such as "A long time ago I never knew myself (the devil was an angel) then the memory of shame birthed its gift" (he turned to a devil) "Driven and burning to rise beyond Jesus" (the devil wants to be stronger than Jesus, as in the old good vs. bad moral fight) And more: I can see you, can fuck you, inside of you. Personally, i think this song is about phil anselmo's struggle with the whole religion deal.

I love this song, one of Panteras best which is saying alot since they rarely make a bad song.

This song is about rising thorugh social class bullshit, and manipulating society, sort of like hitler did, but more phil anselmoish. good drums by Vinnie, just learned it a month ago after a while of trying.

I agree with Schr4nz. Its like he found a confidence he didn't have before and realized that he can exceed the expectations he was given. More then that he no longer cares what others think cuz he has the ultimate self pride for the first time in his life. He is also trying to influence others who was in his position to realize how much they are worth as he did.

I also agree with Schr4nz...It's definitely about a misfit kid developing a God complex.
