Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on

Sloopy lives in a very bad part of town
and everybody else, tries to put my sloopy down
Sloopy I don't care, what your daddy do
'cause you know sloopy, girl, I'm inlove with you

and so I say now

Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on

Sloopy wears a red dress, yeah
??
but when sloopy wears that red dress, yeah
you know it gives me the chills

Sloopy when I see you walking,
walking down the street
I say don't worry sloopy, girl
You belong to me

and so I say now

Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
Hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
(yeah) (yeah) (yeah) (yeah)

Sloopy let your hair down, ooo
Let it hang down on me
Sloopy let your hair down, girl
Let it hang down on me, yeah

come on sloopy (come on, come on)
oh come on sloopy (come on, come on)
oh come on sloopy (come on, come on)
oh come on sloopy (come on, come on)

well it feels so good (come on, come on)
you know it feels so good (come on, come on)
well shake it, shake it, shake it sloopy (come on, come on)
shake it, shake it, shake it yeah (come on, come on)

hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
(yeah) (yeah) (yeah) (yeah)
hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on
(yeah) (yeah) (yeah) (yeah)
hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on

This song is about a prostitute. And a man being in love with her...'sloopy i dont care what your daddy do' this means that the guy doesnt care how rich or wealthy she is..or what her background is like...sloopy lives on a bad side of town... the whole shake it shake it shake it chorus...maybe asking her to dance for him..? hey its just a theory..tell me what you think.

I can't for the life of me understand how most of the free world has not figured this song out! It's not about a girl giving a guy a blow job...ewww! But it is most definitely about sex.

It's about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who falls in love with the guy singing the song. He has her get on top (a most excellent position, I highly recommend it)...uh, anyway. He says, let your hair down, let it HANG DOWN ON ME! How can anyone miss that. She's on top...she let's down her long hair and it falls down on him while they are makin' sweet love! It's awesome. And of course, "shake it, shake it, shake it baby" is double meaning...as in shake your hair AND shake your body as they have an orgasm. Ok, if you're a prude this might offend you, but I don't know why it's really kind of sweet if you ask me.

But I think the folks who went and made it Ohio's State song would never want to acknowledge what the McCoys were really singing about.

Oh Sloopy, let your hair hang down on me...as Austin Powers would say, YEAHHH BABY YEEAAAHHHH!Mark - Seattle

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
