Sweetest Perfection Lyrics

The sweetest perfection
To call my own
The slightest correction
Couldn't finely hone
The sweetest infection
Of body and mind
Sweetest injection
Of any kind

I stop and I stare too much
Afraid that I care too much
And I hardly dare to touch
For fear that the spell may be broken

When I need a drug in me
And it brings out the thug in me
Feel something tugging me
Then I want the real thing not tokens

The sweetest perfection...

Things you'd expect to be
Having effect on me
Pass undetectedly
But everyone knows what has got me

Takes me completely
Touches so sweetly
Reaches so deeply
I know that nothing can stop me

Sweetest perfection
An offer was made
An assorted collection
But I wouldn't trade

The sweetest perfection...

Takes me completely
Touches so sweetly
Reaches so deeply
Nothing can stop me

This song is about being completely taken by something that at once felt so beautiful. It's about an addiction and I don't believe drugs are the only addiction covered in this song. It IS an extremely powerful song and longing for perfection is what we naturally all strive for......ironic how the sweetest perfection really isn't sweet or perfect at all!

when I first heard this song, I imagined that the singer was an artist (in the sense of painting, sculptures, etc) and that he was talking about his current art piece that he was working on... Sometimes people become obsessed with thier projects, and it may appear like an addiction...

"Things you'd expect to be Having effect on me Pass undetectedly But everyone knows what has got me"

could be the project "speaking" to him while he's working on it...

It's an analogy. He's describing the general feeling of obsession and desire with the feeling you get from heroin...it could be a girl, a work of art...anything, but that satisfaction itself that you get when something is perfect and you just want it continue forever....that's what he's talking about.

This song for me speaks about anorexia. "The sweetest perfection To call my own The slightest correction Couldn't finely hone The sweetest infection Of body and mind Sweetest injection Of any kind

I stop and I stare too much Afraid that I care too much" Anorexia is a strive for perfection and it's something that one begins to call their own, it becomes the only thing that you have the one thing that you hold onto and you belive that no on can take it away from you.

"Things you'd expect to be Having effect on me Pass undetectedly But everyone knows what has got me" Everyone begins to see what is going on with you, and you notice the effects to but they are also not good enough for you, but you begin to feel lik eyou are being found out and all you want to do is keep it to yourself. sorry, maybe i made this a little to long. I just enjoy reading these song lyrics over again and alway sget more out of it.

lots of songs are about love. i believe this one is about it as well. the sweetest perfection being the person you are in love with. they are perfect in your eyesand the are now yours. [to call my own] there is no need for correction, you cant go beyond perfect.[the slightest correction couldnt finely hone] spell meaning the love spell. you are afraid to do things, touch, say things for fear that it could make the other person think differently of you [spell may be broken] without love, before you've met that one person, you want love, you long for it, it drives you crazy seeing people around you happy, making love a drug to cure your sickness. so yes i believe this song is about love. (:

Things you'd expect to be Having effect on me Pass undetectedly But everyone knows what has got me

They are saying that their obsession with their project is effecting everything else

Here they might be comparing their obsession to the feeling you get from drugs.

I stop and I stare too much Afraid that I care too much And I hardly dare to touch For fear that the spell may be broken

Here they might be obsessively admiring their work

Sweetest perfection An offer was made An assorted collection But I wouldn't trade

No. That might add to the mass appeal of the song, but the song is definitely about Heroin (the sweetest INJECTION... c'mon). DM lyrics have never really been pretty simplistically clear.

You could have truer words on this song depechvixxen. I agree with you completely but, I also think that ALL songs have the meaning that you interperet.

The heroin interpretation behind 'injection' and 'drug' is almost too obvious for me. I like more subtlety in my lyrics. This could also be about a relationship or anything else, really. But obviously it makes the most sense about heroin. Great song anyway, the atmosphere of the music is so dark and seductive.

I would agree...it almost seems like a stalkerish kind of lust for a woman that is in his eyes perfect....just what I think anyway
