He's telling someone something bad is going to happen and he doesnt know why that person is waiting.. He's also trying to help them pull through
I think him and someone used to do bad things and now they're gonna pay the consuquences and they're just waiting around for that to happen.
I think this song is about him looking back at his youth and now he understands why things happened and now he can truly appreciate them. Also life has become rather dull. A rather nostallgic song
when i hear the lines "we should have waited" and in the end "are you ashamed?" i cant help but think this song is about sex and losing your virginity...

It sounds a little bit like he's talking to an earlier generation - baby boomers, maybe - who had a regimen of saving money and avoiding the instant gratification of buying what you want straight away. This regimen is 'too slow' for us, it's 'gonna die'. He is part of a generation who is 'breaking the season' by spending money and not 'waiting'.
I think it's about two people who rushed into a relationship when they should have taken it easy, and maybe someone got hurt, maybe they aren't together anymore.
