"Swallow My Pride" was written by Joey about the band's displeasure over the commercial failure of their first album. "It's going on two years" and they hadn't made any money from their recording contract.

In 2004 all the kids at school (8th grade) would say and make their AIM away message "loose lips sink ships" and I never knew what song it was from, I was thinking maybe an emo band because that was popular at the time but I found out about a year or two ago that it's this Ramones song, "Swallow My Pride". But the kids copied everyone else by saying it, but I guess one person had to have heard the song unless everyone just saw the quote online. Hmmm strange.

The song is about being a totally self absorbed rock star who thinks everything is going to turn out great because he can't think for himself anymore... Or it's about being awesome because the Ramones are fucking great
