This song holds true to (if not sets the prescident for) the theme of this album: breaking up. While other more intense songs like "lovebites and razorlines" and "motel of the white locust" focus primariliy on the rage and resentment that results from a bad break up, "when 1-8" instead looks more closley at confusion, pain and a sense of loss. I believe that the title of the song refers to the infinity symbol ( 8 ); two interlocking, unending circles breaking apart into two seperate units (not so concidentally forming zeroes). Songwriting at it's finest.

GlassJAw is one of the best bands I nknow and this song is really good 2.
this was the first GlassJAw song I heard and I was hooked on this band after the first chorus. It totally blew me away. I could feel the raw emotion in the song
this song is so amazing. I think its kind of sarcastic in a way well atleast the "so were growing im sure" part but the best lyric has to be "If not you than who else should i belive?"

Definitely one of the most emotional songs on the album. This song does tap into the whole sense of confusion and pain of losing the person who makes you feel whole. Best line of this song:
"I hope you enjoy dying alone."
the vocals on this song are purely amazing. they DEFINE raw, overwhelming emotion. the screams, the gasps, the cries... amazing
