I could never understand
The wind at all
Was like a ball of love
I could never never see
The cosmic sea
Was like a bumble bee

And when I'm sad...
I slide.

I have never never kissed
A car before
It's like a door
I have always always
Grown my own before
All schools are strange

And when I'm sad...
I slide.

I have never never
Nailed a nose before
That¹s how the garden grows
I could never understand
The wind at all
Was like a ball of love

And when I'm sad...
I Slide
Watch now
I'm gonna slide

It's about doing coke. Tyrannosaurus Rex used to be a hippie psychedelic band, but Bolan "could never see the cosmic scene," so now he slides his face down a line of blow. And some cokeheads keep a long pinky nail to do coke from. This is called "nailing a nose."

druggggs. he sounds like he is on a major trip with all the weird lyrics haha. but i suppose "slide" refers to actually taking the drugs. "when im sad i slide" "i have always grown my own before" and there is plenty of sniffing sounds haha. i love thing song though!

From the weird lyrics to those cool Violins that come out of no where...This song just plain out rocks. It proves that songs don't always need a straight up meaning to slap you in the face. I'm sure Marc Bolan was thinking about something and his hand wrote on its own. Good song and wonderfully put together! I love T. Rex!

This is more of a philosophical song to Bolan. He cannot comprehend the elements around him, and he could not see past the sky and so he could not see the cosmic sea. He's never kissed a car before (he's never driven one) because it's like a door. You never know what might happen on the other side of a door. Having always grown his own before I believe he might be talking about marijuana or possibly his own songs. Now nailing a nose, that's how a garden grows? That one I can't really explain.

    My Opinion
I'd like to thank everyone here for ruining this song for me. I guess I should've realized it was about drugs, but a lot of awesome songs have weird lyrics so I never thought about it. Either way, it's a great song even though it is now slightly tarnished to me
