I think it's more of a sweet song. I mean it's one of those "to know what you have you have to let it go" sort of things. He didn't realize what he had in front of him. He went to go find what he wanted, and he came back because it was in front of him the whole time.

This strikes me as really sad. You suck, so I rejected you, and looked for someone better. But everyone else turned me down, so I'm going to come back to you. It's a huge insult really.

this is a pretty confusing song, lyrically, too. how is it that he has this girlfriend and isn't the boyfriend?

i think this song is about him havin this chick and then him leavin her and realizing what he left behind after all the other girls couldnt take her place... i dont know, im dumb... lol

this song is so good. it's about how he dumped a girl who loved him to go chase his dream girl, but his dream girl rejected him so he's going back to his ex because she'll take him back because of her strong feelings. she is like his safety net, and this is summed up in the whole "you'll always be my girlfriend...i'll always be your friend". he knows that she will always be there for him, both as a friend and a lover, where he can only guarantee friendship, as he is likely to go after the next lushgirl he sees, leaving her behind again, drowning in her devotion to him. anyways, that's what i think...
