Walking on Sunshine Lyrics
Ow! Mmm, yeah!
I used to think maybe you loved me, now baby I'm sure
And I just can't wait until the day when you knock on my door
Now every time I go for the mailbox, got to hold myself down
Because I just can't wait until you write me you're coming around
Now I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (whoa oh)
And don't it feel good
Hey! All right now
And don't it feel good
Hey! Yeah!
I used to think maybe you loved me, now I know that it's true
And I don't want to spend my whole life just a waiting for you
Now don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day (na no no)
I said baby I just want you back and I want you to stay (Oh yeah)
I'm walking on sunshine (Whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (Whoa oh)
I'm walking on sunshine (Whoa oh)
And don't it feel good
Hey! All right now
And don't it feel good (yeah) (Oh yeah)
And don't it feel good
Walking on sunshine
Walking on sunshine (yeah)
I feel alive, I feel a love
I feel a love that's really real
I feel alive, I feel a love

This girl used to be unsure about her relationship, but now she knows the he loves her, so she is really excited to see him and she says "I want you back and I want you to stay". It is just like the song's title, she is really happy and giddy.
always loved the song, but always think of futurama, when frys dog from the pizza store is found and the dog barks the tune, and when fry "dies" in leela's dream and its played on bagpipes "hes walking on sunshine now"
In my opinion this is the saddest song ever written. Notice how Katrina is alone in the video.
"I used to think maybe you loved me, now baby I'm sure" She doubted this man's love in the past, but now has let go of doubt. "And I just can't wait till the day when you knock on my door. Now everytime I go for the mailbox, gotta hold myself down cause I just can't wait till you write me you're comin' around" She is anticipating someone who she has little or no regular contact with, relying on the moments when he randomly shows up.
"I'm walking on sunshine" As far as I can tell this phrase has never been used in the english language before Katrina and the Waves, and it's meaning is not clear. After all "sunshine" cannot actually be walked on in reality. It is like saying "swimming on soundwaves" or "crawling on odor." Walking on sunshine is thus a very obscure metaphor, which is open to interpretation. I will note that there is a distinct minor chord struck at the beginning of the chorus, but musically uninclined people have trouble hearing it.
"I used to think maybe you loved me, now I know that it's true" Reinforcing her stance that this man loves him, she is clearly seeking validation. "And I don't wanna spend my whole life just a waitin' for you. Now don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day (na no no) I said baby I just want you back and I want you to stay." This final part of the verse sounds hopelessly desperate. After claiming she knows this man loves her, she reveals that he only visits for a weekend or a day on occasion, so what is she basing her belief on?
"Walking on sunshine" beautifully illustrates the bitter sadness of living in denial.

This song! No matter how I am feeling, this is the kind of song that you can just get up and dance to in front of your mirror. It always brightens up my day!
This is a great song and I think it's just about love and happiness!
So, I actually looked up this song's meaning because I was listening to it and it kind of sounded like it was written by a crazy girl who refused to let go of a relationship. Maybe she is delusional and believes that he still loves her and will be back soon to be with her. Maybe I only thought of that because we don't know where he is, only that he's gone. Probably not right, but still a different take on it.
I love this song!
is this a ska band? i've got this song burned on a mix cd, but it's a guy singing...some one help me out here...
katrina and the waves arent really ska, i think they just use trumpets cos they're kinda old if u c wot i mean! there's other versions of the song that are proper ska,so that's probably just wot uv got!
yeh i remember that-so like i said, they aren't ska!
