its a very early song so excuse them, its not bad. i like the base line, crazy funk! the lyrics are hard to interpritate, sounds like a person who has insomnia "can't sleep at night" and lives at night enjoyin drugs and sex "sex is pain, keeps me alive", however, they are detached from reality due to the lifestyle "you can't confuse yourself we're making no one out ", and are being put under pressure to succeed in life "you will never make it" "you're to blame for everything "...thus the pressure of reality cause the cycle of sex and drugs at night.
I like this song :/ And it is remeniscent of Fillip. Jimmy Kanes an actor is he not? Im not sure on his biography or anything , But if it helps yeah. Thats who Jimmy Kane is.
I think this is a bit freaky this song, even for muse. Very drugged up sound to it, don't you think? The kind of thing you'd sing when you're totally drunk and think you're getting meaningful about....well sex and pain keeping you alive. :P
I think it's about being really screwed up. And Matt really likes the name Jimmy Kane, I think. :P He wanted to name his kids something-Kane in an interview if I remember correctly...
1st it is not a very good song.
i see it as a biblcel story kane as in "kane and habel" kane killed his brother habel in the bible' and as for jimmy (might be morrison or hendrix) looks like he is afraid of living without a god. so he blame's and trying to create confusion in the lyrics ' 'the lyrics were written from a point of view of the victim ( habel)
