Powerful song. The person who said its meaningless not only is a complete moron, but probably doesn't even have a soul.
Its not really about "ruling the world" per se, but ruling yourself and the people around you. Basically, the desire(and sin) of greed, and wanting everything in life, even though most of those things are worthless.
This is an emotional song.
