Josie's on a vacation far away
Come around and talk it over
So many things that I want to say
You know I like my girls a little bit older

I just want to use your love tonight
I don't want to lose your love tonight

I ain't got many friends left to talk to
Nowhere to run when I'm in trouble
You know I'd do anything for you
Stay the night but keep it undercover

I just want to use your love tonight (whoa)
I don't want to lose your love tonight

Try to stop my hands from shaking
Something in my mind's not making sense
It's been a while since we were all alone
I can't hide the way I'm feeling

As you're leaving, please, won't you close the door?
And don't forget what I told you
Just 'cause you're right, that don't mean I'm wrong
Another shoulder to cry upon

I just want to use your love tonight (yeah)
I don't want to lose your love tonight (yeah)
I just want to use your love tonight
I don't want to lose your love tonight
I just want to use your love tonight
I don't want to lose your love tonight

(Use your love, lose your love) your love
(Use your love, lose your, tonight) Well, I don't wanna lose
Oh, I don't want to lose (lose your, tonight)
I don't wanna, no, I don't wanna
I don't wanna lose (use your, tonight)
Your love, your (lose your, tonight)
Your love (use your, tonight)
Your love (lose your, tonight) I don't want to lose your love tonight
Love (use your, tonight)
(Lose your)

    Song Meaning

C'mon guys. Are we really trying to make the singer/speaker "the good guy in love" in this song? The entire lyrics of this song scream a "quickie". "I just want to use your love tonight"- meaning he wants to use her and "I don't want to lose your love tonight"- meaning he will do anything to keep her there, i.e, cuddle with her, be romantic... anything to get in her pants. Josie is obviously younger so he is making the unnamed girl feel better about herself by saying he's always liked his girls older. He want to "talk"- meaning he will probably say stuff to her to make her think he wants to be with her or whatever it takes to convince her. "You know I'd do anything for you, We will keep it under cover"- he is making her feel important and also suggesting, "Hey, you know I think we should keep this under cover," because even though he is cheating on Josie, he doesn't want to break up with Josie. "My hands shakin'... can't hide the way I'm feeling"- He is ready and excited with anticipation as it seems she is giving in to him and he says, "hey, I can't hide that I have feeling for you," and this is where they do "it". As she is leaving he says, "As you leave me please would you close the door and forget what I told you/Just 'cause you're right - that don't mean I'm wrong/ Another shoulder to cry upon."- I get the image that he won't even get up to close the door because now they are done with the quickie he is lying on the bed relaxing. And as she is leaving, he is being a total dick to her saying, "Yeah, you're good but I don't want to be with you. I bet I am just another shoulder for you to cry on. Holla." Lol. That's what I get from this song. I can't see how this is anything about loving the older woman... The entire song screams he just wanted to get in her pants.

The more I listen to this song the more I love it, and the more I am confused about the meaning.

Of course the obvious meaning is that it's about the singer cheating on Josie. However, and this may be me projecting my own experiences onto the song, I have always thought that it is less about cheating, and more about the temptation to cheat.

In particular the line "Another shoulder to cry upon" after they have supposedly parted, has always made me believe that he did not end up cheating on Josie, for whatever reason, perhaps simply from not being able to go through with it, and instead settled for emotional comfort rather than physical. I believe that in the lines:

"Try to stop my hands from shaking But something in my minds not making sense It's been a while since we were all alone I can't hide the way I'm feeling"

He gets to the point of almost going through with the act but is stopped at the end and leaves deciding instead that she will be "another shoulder to cry upon" and that while he wants to use her love, he doesn't wish to loose it.

As for the idea that there he is with a girl too young for him, I don't support this theory, I think it simply means that the girl he is speaking too is older and that he has always had a crush on her.

Though this is simply my opinion and as I say could be me projecting personal experiences, regardless this is a brilliant song.

Everyone is assuming Josie is a girl. Ever see the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales?" I am pretty sure that Clint Eastwood did NOT play the role woman.

So, it could be that the singer's friend Josie is on a vacation...and he is inviting Josie's girlfriend/wife over...

    My Interpretation

I can't be the only guy who sees Josie as the girl that the guy is after, right? I always saw it as a guy trying to avoid a breakup with a girl with whom he's in a rough patch with.

    My Interpretation

Here's my interpretation: So this guy, whose girlfriend is out of town, meets this new girl and cheats on his current girlfriend. I think that part is clear. There are parts where I can kind of hear other things going on, for example,

"I just wanna use your love tonight I don't wanna lose your love tonight"

So, firstly, I think that he was trying to use this persons love for possibly selfish reasons, but ended up actually feeling things for her. He's saying that he didn't want any attatchments or strings, he just wanted to use her love, but then he actually fell for her, and he doesn't want to lose her now. My main reason for thinking this is because of the use of the phrase "use your love", which hints that it's not really sincere, at least not in the beginning.

I think that there might have been trouble in his current relationship, and that he's maybe trying to get back at Josie for something? Maybe she cheated on him? I don't know. I just feel like, throughout the song, he mentions indirectly that he's dealing with a diffficult thing, like when he says that he has so much he wants to say, but later he mentions how he doesn't have many friends or anybody to talk to about it. And all of this is shown in other areas of the song. I really feel this meaning during this part:

"Try to stop my hands from shakin' 'Cause somethin' in my mind's not makin' sense It's been awhile since we were all alone I can't hide the way I'm feelin'"

He's getting confused, wondering why he's starting to feel something for this girl who was just supposed to be a casual fling to hurt someone.

"As you're leaving, please, would you close the door? And don't forget what I told you Just 'cause you're right, that don't mean I'm wrong Another shoulder to cry upon "

Sad that she's leaving, trying to convince her to stay. I think that she didn't know about Josie in the beginning, and when she found out she got angry and left. Because he says, "Just 'cause you're right that don't mean I'm wrong" which to me, means that he realizes that she's right and that it was wrong to cheat on Josie with her, but he doesn't feel that being with her is wrong.

Haha, that took longer than I expected. I'll be impressed if anybody actually reads all of this. Usually when I see an interpretation this long, I just think, "Ugh, that's too many words." TL;DR

    Song Meaning

For what it is worth, this is my interpretation of the song...

The singer's girlfriend/wife is out of town. He's feeling lonely and wants a shoulder to cry on, so he contacts someone from his past. He knows that this person loves him. It seems like he has feelings for her too ("So many things that I want to say"), but believes her to be too young for him. He knows that he's not available for her long-term, thus the line "I just want to use your love tonight."

It seems like they've gotten together before, and at one point his feelings for the person (and/or his guilt about what he’s doing) become overwhelming. ("Try to stop my hands from shaking. But something in my mind's not making sense. It's been a while since we were all alone. But I can't hide the way I'm feeling.")

Once the singer’s needs have been met (sexual and/or emotional), his focus is on making sure that the encounter is kept secret. ("As you're leaving please would you close the door? And don't forget what I told you.)

I take the line, "Just 'cause you're right that don't mean I'm wrong" to mean that the singer knows that the person is right in wanting more from the relationship, but feels that he is also right in staying with Josie.

    OK, my thoughts are similar

Josie on a vacation, far away This guy is married / living with a much younger woman, she takes a break from him, maybe in an attempt to recapture her youth, an occasional fling with a younger man.

Come around and talk it over Josie has had these vacations before, the guy is hurt and has called an old lost love/ girlfriend to talk, in the past she has offered to come over where they maybe share drinks, talk problems, kiss and embrace, and crossed the line into the cheating side of sleeping together. Realizing the emotions and the mistake, they have agreed to remain friends and talk, but the attrations are there and are strong.

So many things I want to say The old, "if I had it all to do over again, I would choose you" and the "my wife doesn't understand me/love me" Wanting to tell her things that he should have said when they were together, and pour out his problems now.

You know I like my girls a little but older The old girlfriend is about his same age and grew up to the same culture, a break from his young flighty wife, who likes punk rock or something

I just want to use your love tonight I am lonely, I miss you, I want to hold you, see you, kiss you, and make love to you

I don't want to lose your love tonight There isn't anyone else I can call, you are my only hope

I ain't got many friends left to talk to goes with the above line, shes about it as far as old friends

Nowhere to run when I'm in trouble. same thing, when Josie leaves, its the old friend; this guy probably gotten older and out of shape, so trolling in bars for one nighters is not going to happen, has no other social life

You know I'd do anything for you Still a little in love with his old girlfriend, and would come to her rescue if needed

Stay the night but keep it under cover. She's probably single/divorced/unhappy and he doesn't want the emotional aspect of their fling to be known, coaching her to keep it quiet for his sake and hers

Try to stop my hands from shaking Excited and nervous about the foreplay and sex

But something in my mind's not making sense. Something's wrong, guilt or the realization that she is using him for some unspoken reason instead of him using her for the short term

It's been a while since we were all alone Remembering their last sleepover

But I can't hide the way I'm feeling. His desire for sex has changed to love for her, she can't go through with the sex, because its all too deep and involved.

As you're leaving please would you close the door? She dresses and leaves, he says it to actually close the door, but also meant we can't do this anymore

And don't forget what I told you. Probably, "the I have always loved you" and "while we can't do this anymore, I will rescue you if you need me" type of departure

Just 'cause you're right that don't mean I'm wrong Even if I can't have you, I will still love and desire you; she's right to break it off, but he doesn't think its wrong for him to desire her, since Josie (that slut) leaves him alone and denies him sex

Another shoulder to cry upon. Both are still open to helping each other through marital problems, without intimacy and sex, though both know it might lead there.

SOMEBODY ELSE brought in a "younger sister angle" that makes sense too. Younger sis fall for the older sis boyfriend, as she grows up into a woman he turns to her when older sis (Josie) leaves him hanging. The line "I like my girls a little bit older" something he said to her in the past, said in jest since she is now a grown woman and very attractive.

CRAP..the more I think, the possibilities I come up with...I m just going to write my own song

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
