Porcelain Lyrics

Hey, you've got a lot of nerve
To show your face round here
Hey you've got a lot of nerve
To dredge up all my fears
Well I wish I could shake some sense into you
And walk out the door

But your skin is like porcelain
Yeah your skin is like porcelain

I don't know what I'm saying
Well I don't know if you're there
In the words you are feigning
Do you even care?

Just the other day I felt I had you by a string
Just the other day I felt we could be everything
But now when I see you, you're somebody else
In somebody's eyes

And your skin is like porcelain
Yeah your skin is like porcelain

Well I wish I could kill you, savor the sight
Get into my car, drive into the night
Then lie as I scream to the heavens above
That I was the last one you ever loved

But your skin is like porcelain
Yeah your skin is like porcelain
Porcelain. Porcelain.

this song reminds me of my ex-boyfriend. he kept playing it after we broke up. it was unnerving.

its about being hurt by someone he thought he knew. she is still around, and it hurts to see her because she is completely different. he can't understand how the girl he knew before is the same or how she could have ever loved him since she is so cold now. he is afraid she never did care. he is confused and full of pain at the thought of her.

Obsessive love for an ex-girlfriend. (Cheating ex-girlfriend?)

The emotion and frustration to be around her is unmanageable ... but, "never hit a woman, for she is like porcelin", you will break her and be the fool for doing so.
Instead, he vents, screams out, and openly wishes her ill-will.

My Interpretation

this song is like the defenition of obsession and love...the last verse where he says " I wish I could kill you...I was the last one you ever loved" - it's genius man...I love it

Genius indeed! Go BTE, way to capture the obsession of infatuation...

This song reminds me of a poem by Robert Browning called "Porphyria's Lover." The last verse is VERY reminiscent of the poem. I wonder if perhaps the poem inspired the song?

Good call, Imp, I wouldn't have caught that connection otherwise. The poem is far more depressing than this song though (killing the girl with her own hair).

This song I think captures the feelings of a "first love".... you're not really sure if its love or obession and they go and crush you. Terrible thing.

Wow, my2cents...that's exactly what I think about this song. :/

I wish I could force it onto someone's iPod.

Obsessive love. Young love. Not being able to deal with the situation of a breakup so much that your thoughts become obsessive. And while these are just thoughts, they haunt you to know end. And you don't fully comprehend how disturbing your thoughts are until you grow older.
