Cut me out of this role.
I can't play it anymore.
It must be something in the water here.

Give me up,
I confess.

I feel as though I'm living less.
The strangest gravity affects my way.
Because I was born incomplete,
Drowning in the brevity.

Kind of like a road you're travelling on.
Everything in 2's
You often lose
You make me whole again
Everything in 2's

You never knew
You'd make me whole again.
Someone said, someone wrote,
We're floating tethered to a rope.

So complicate me,
I could use the weight.
In how you move the scenery,
Lover, how you mirror me.

But stop me if you've heard it all before.
And now and again,
You find yourself over your head.

In a cynical time, in you I find
A reason to live.

Cut me out of this role
I can't play it anymore
It must be something in the water here.

I think that BTE is the greates in the world. I also think that this song is about a love that someone has found. Before this love, they thought that life was empty and not worth anything. After falling in love, the person thought their life was the greatest in the world. Even through bad times, their love could prevail. I also thought of this song for my girlfriend, Erin. I love her with all of my heart and someday want to spend the rest of my life with her. I love you Erin. BTE Forever!

    Focused inspiration.

"Floating tethered to a rope" refers to that unsure feeling when you're just drifting through life. The rope is your center, perhaps your friends and family or your own sense of self. You meet someone you want to include in your life and you are weighed down in a way that does not way you down. It's an anchor; a rock. You're drawn to it.

It doesn't define you but it moves you to move forward. That sense of completeness is the freedom to be who you are and to have someone accept you. Everytime you are with them you see that acceptance and it helps you to overcome adversity.

"It must be something in the water here" is a play on the idea that some small towns have a chemical added to the water supply that makes you act or think a certain way. What is being said is that there is something to this that reminds me of why I want to stay in this with you. This is what I want and I want it for a long, long time.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
