They will say that he loves you, he don't
From their bible they're controlled
His descent they expect in our life
They'll be waiting till they die
Disembark from their path of belief
If in turn will set you free
Cannot live with the fact that they're wrong
That there is no truth in god

Trick or betrayed
Their faith ends in pain
Rip up their bible before is(its?) too late
Time we undo unity
For it is for fools
In this world we don't need

Trick or betrayed

I think you should know
They know it's true
That their book is a hoax
Join us to see through the light
Christ is a scheme and will ruin your life

Trick or betrayed

Why insist on the cross died for us
His infliction never was
They assume that his death brought them life
To be dead will change their minds
When you see what you feel is not real
Disappointment is revealed
Cannot live with the fact that they're wrong
There is no such thing as god

Ok. I'm a BIG Deicide fan. But even I have to call shenanigans on this one. "There is no such thing as God". Now, while I am in complete agreeance, how can a self described "Satanist" say there is no such thing as God? I mean really, if there is Satan, there is God.

True, I agree with you. But like Glen Benton is going to let up his views on religion anytime soon =P haha.

who the fuck cares, what benton believes what do you believe?Satan and Lucifer to me are just the personification of rebellion and evil, the signs and pentacles are relics that people reconize as their opposites, think for your self

As much as I think that Glen Benton is a moron and all his views are based on causing rises out of people, I will say that is quite possible to be a Satanist and not believe in God. The idea of Satanism isn't to worship Satan himself, as in the character in the Bible. It is merely a rebellion of everything that is Christianity.

Actually, Satanism has 2 sides: Theistic and Laveyen.

Theistic is basically devil worship. Laveyen is the belief of no God nor Satan, Heaven nor Hell. L Satanists worship themselves and believe that life s for fulfilling your desires.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
