i think this is to an ex-girlfriend. he's saying how much he loves his car more than her. i think he's trying to nhurt her feelings by this. but alsom, he's trying to convince himsefl (or HAS convinced himself) he's better off without her and he's alright - "it's okay to be alone, i'm alone most of the time"
this is a kool song and i love it i think you got the meaning spot on but the reason the line 'it's okay to fall asleep i can't get myself up [?] most of the time' doesnt make sense is because the line goes 'its okay to fall asleep i get paralytic most of the time!!' ok
