Marlene Lyrics

Marlene
Marlene, you're the prettiest girl I've ever seen
Do you care for me at all
Marlene, I care for you
And I just don't care who knows it
and I guess that means that I love you
Marlene
Marlene, who'd believe that you're only seventeen
I'm in trouble if your folks get mean
And if they do
Then I don't care if they bust me
and I guess that means that I love you
I don't need no fantasies
Just one thing I need
I you could make it here, Marlene
Dear Marlene, Marlene
Marlene, when I think that it all is just a dream
I remember that your eyes are green
And mine are blue
They will always see each other
and I guess that means that I love you
I don't need realities
Just one thing I need
If you could make it here Marlene
Dear Marlene, Marlene
Marlene, I'm depending on you now
Marlene

Cover art for Marlene lyrics by Todd Rundgren

This song from the Something/Anything album is about Marlene Morrow (born Marlene Pinkard), who was Todd's 17 year old girlfriend in the very early 70's. She lived with Todd at 51 Horatio Street in the West Village of Manhattan. After she and Todd split in '73, Todd became involved with model/Playboy October 1974 playmate, Bebe Buell. Marlene Morrow went on to become Playboy's April 1974 playmate.

The last information about Marlene came in from photographer Paul Zollo on Flickr, who last saw her April 2006 - Marlene lives on the streets of Los Angeles, now a homeless woman who calls herself Persephone. She's apparently disappeared from the street where Paul first spotted her; he's gone back there, but the band of homeless people she was in has vanished.
