STACIE ORRICO IS INCREDIBLE. THIS IS A MAFNIFICENT SONG! SHE WROTE A BOOK NAMED "GENUINE" WHICH EXPLAINS THIS SONG'S MEANING. THIS SONG IS ABOUT HOW JUST AS WE ALL STRUGGLE TO FIT IN AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES, SHE HAD TO ENDURE THIS ALSO. IN MIDDLE SCHOOL SHE WANTED TO FIT-IN AND BE CONSIDERED COOL, SO SHE STARTED DOING THINGS THAT WERE OUTSIDE OF HER CHARACTER AND FAITH. SHE DID THINGS SHE WAS UNSURE OF. THEN, FINALLY SHE BROKE DOWN, AND PRAYED FOR HELP TO GOD. THEN SHE REALIZED THERE WAS NO REASON TO TRY TO BE COOL OR WHAT THE KIDS AT SCHOOL OR OTHER PEOPLE WERE. FOR, THOSE SAME PEOPLE WHO SEEM SO COOL, AND CONFIDENT AREN'T ANY GREATER OF MORE LOVED BY GOD, WHICH IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN THE END. SHE REALIZED THAT NO ONE IS PERFECT OR INVINCIBLE.
